CD Projekt RED Continues to Support Cyberpunk 2077 with New Update
Even as the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 is in active development, CD Projekt RED hasn't forgotten about the original game. The studio has just rolled out Update 2.31, a patch focused on enhancing the game's autopilot system, improving photo mode functionalities, and addressing a range of common issues that players have encountered.
This latest update shows a continued commitment from the developers to refine the Night City experience, ensuring a smoother and more immersive journey for V.
Key Improvements in Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.31
Here’s a breakdown of the most significant changes introduced in the new patch:
- Smarter Autopilot: The vehicle autopilot has received a firmware upgrade, making its driving much smoother. It will now actively avoid stationary cars and navigate intersections without unnecessarily stopping at traffic lights. While in auto-walk mode, the autopilot will still adhere to traffic laws, but its overall city navigation capabilities have been significantly improved.
- Vehicle Fixes: Several car-related bugs have been squashed. Players will no longer find Johnny Silverhand appearing as a passenger every time they take a Delamain taxi. Additionally, the wheels of the Yaiba ARV-Q340 Samimaru car will stop glowing in various colors after applying the 'Crystal Coat' customization.
- Enhanced Photo Mode: Photographers in Night City will be pleased to know that most of the poses introduced in Update 2.3 are now available for characters of both genders. Character collision with objects has also been disabled, making it easier to place characters on difficult surfaces like car hoods for that perfect shot.
- Quest and Open World Stability: A host of corrections have been applied to various quests and the open world. For instance, in the 'I Fought The Law' quest, River Ward will no longer forget to call V back after a failed pursuit of the 'Samimaru' — his memory has been restored.
- Localization Refinements: Errors in text and lip-sync synchronization have been corrected across several language localizations, improving the overall narrative experience.
- New Graphics Option: Players can now disable vignetting via a new parameter found in the 'Settings' – 'Graphics' – 'Common Settings' menu. This offers more control over the game's visual presentation.
- PC-Specific Fixes: PC players will no longer experience a pink screen after disabling NVIDIA Reflex when DLSS Frame Generation is active. Ray tracing performance has also been corrected to ensure it behaves as intended.
- Mac Version Adjustments: The Mac version of Cyberpunk 2077, which saw its complete edition launch on July 17th, also received a number of fixes. These mainly address game behavior in the settings menu and overall stability. For example, selecting default video settings will no longer cause the game to exit HDR mode.
What This Means for Players
Update 2.31 demonstrates CD Projekt RED's ongoing dedication to perfecting Cyberpunk 2077. For players, this means a more polished and enjoyable experience in Night City. From smoother vehicle travel and more expressive photo opportunities to essential bug fixes and improved graphical options, these changes collectively contribute to a more stable and immersive game, ensuring that both new and returning V's can dive deeper into the world without interruption.
Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition is currently available on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
