Now, developer The Astronauts has provided an updated roadmap, detailing the remaining three major updates, including the highly anticipated 1.0 release, before the game officially leaves early access in 2026.

The updated development plan outlines a cautious yet comprehensive approach to bringing the game to its final form. Here's a look at what players can expect:

• Update 0.8: "The Reckoning" (December 2025)
  This update is named "The Reckoning" because it will introduce the final major tweaks to Witchfire's core gameplay features and mechanics. Players can look forward to new melee weapons, replacing the current bare-fisted combat, along with additional challenging trials and fresh witch vaults to explore. Improvements to the alchemy system are also on the way, with more details to be shared closer to the update's release.
• Update 0.9 (2026)
  Currently unnamed, this update will significantly expand the game world by introducing a brand-new region. It will also bring more localizations, potentially including Russian, and introduce a crucial part of the game's evolving story content.
• Update 1.0: Full Release (2026)
  The full 1.0 launch will finally unlock the complete main story arc, allowing players to experience the narrative conclusion of Witchfire. This release will also introduce a host of other content, marking the game's official departure from early access.

The Astronauts had initially aimed for a full launch in early 2025. However, the studio has decided to exercise caution, pushing the release to 2026. "We're doing pretty well, but we're not moving fast," the developers explained. "We need to check if the 'The Reckoning' update truly refines most of the features to understand what's left to do." This reflects a commitment to quality over speed, ensuring the game is as polished as possible for its full debut.

Currently, Witchfire is available in early access on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
