Originally slated for an early access launch on September 4th—the same day as Silksong—Star Birds will now debut on September 10th. Developers Kurzgesagt and Toukana Interactive shared their decision, stating, “Good news: Star Birds is coming to Early Access very soon! However, our flight path has changed slightly. We're moving the launch to September 10th so as not to run into the supernova Silksong — the most desired game on Steam.” The team also noted that community feedback had already suggested a delay, reinforcing their decision.
The developers recounted their experience at the recent gamescom event, where they encountered the “HUGE surprise” of Team Cherry’s Silksong release date announcement. “We believe both games deserve attention, and we wish the Team Cherry collective amazing success! And, honestly, we ourselves can't wait to play Silksong!” they added, highlighting their own excitement for the title. They described the past few weeks as incredibly exciting and a bit chaotic, as their team juggled numerous tasks and rapidly revised launch plans, crediting player feedback and support as instrumental in their decision-making process.
