Oblivion Remastered Reaches Major Player Milestone

Just three months ago, developers at Virtuos, in collaboration with Bethesda, surprised players with the unexpected release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. Today, it has been revealed that over 9 million users have now experienced the upgraded version of the beloved RPG, marking a significant success for the title.

More Than Just Sales

It's important to note that this impressive figure doesn't solely represent pure sales, as the enhanced Oblivion is also readily available via the Game Pass subscription service. However, this inclusion doesn't diminish the remaster's broad appeal and popularity. Evidence of its widespread adoption includes topping the PlayStation Store download charts in April, accumulating nearly 50,000 reviews on Steam, and attracting over 200,000 concurrent players at its peak, according to SteamDB data.

This latest milestone builds on an already strong performance, as the game previously saw 4 million players dive into Cyrodiil in less than a week after its launch.

Bethesda Thanks the Fans

To celebrate this new achievement, Bethesda published a special piece of artwork featuring the iconic Adoring Fan and extended their gratitude to the community for their immense support. Their message to players read: "To everyone who became the Hero of Kvatch, Arch-Mage, and Grand Champion, banished the Blackwood Company, traveled as the Gray Fox, and listened to the Night — thank you for being a part of our worlds!"

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is currently available on PC (via Steam and Microsoft Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It does not include official Russian localization.

What This Means for Players

The overwhelming success of Oblivion Remastered, evident in its high player count and strong engagement metrics, shows a clear appetite among players for classic RPGs brought to modern platforms. This could potentially encourage Bethesda and other publishers to revisit more beloved titles from their back catalogs for similar remasters, ensuring that gaming history continues to be accessible and enjoyed by new generations of players.
