Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Gets Major Content Expansion in Bound by Duty Update
Players of the cooperative action game Warhammer 40,000: Darktide can dive into a wealth of new content following the release of the 'Bound by Duty' update. Developed by Swedish studio Fatshark, this global patch significantly expands the game's Mortis Trials mode, which was first introduced earlier this spring.
The Mortis Trials mode challenges players to engage in more chaotic, roguelike-inspired battles against waves of enemies. These events take place within a virtual nightmare world, intricately crafted by the psyker Sephonie to hone the combat skills of warriors. With the arrival of the Bound by Duty update, the mode now features a brand-new arena: the 'Theatre of Rectitude.' Here, players will navigate the abandoned corridors of Gloriana and undertake fresh trials from Sephonie, all while uncovering additional details of the game's deep lore.
New Indulgences, Elite Enemies, and Weapons
Beyond the new arena, the developers have introduced two new character archetypes, known as Indulgences, for players to choose from: Goliath and the Emperor's Chosen. Combatants will also face a formidable new elite enemy, the Scab Plasma Gunner, adding another layer of challenge to encounters. To bolster players' arsenals, a powerful new weapon, the Power Falchion, has been added, offering new strategic options in the fight against the hordes of enemies.
Fatshark has also implemented various balance adjustments across the game, refining gameplay and ensuring a more equitable experience. Furthermore, two new modifiers have been introduced for the high-level Havoc mode, promising even greater challenges for veteran players. A full list of all new features and changes can be found in the official patch notes.
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is currently available on PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and is also included with Game Pass subscriptions. The game has garnered over 90,000 reviews on Steam, with 71% of them being positive. This latest update underscores Fatshark's ongoing commitment to expanding and improving the Darktide experience, offering both new and returning players more reasons to delve back into the grim darkness of the far future.
