The Witcher IV Could Draw Inspiration from Sapkowski's New Novel

New Sapkowski Novel Elements Expected in The Witcher IV

While CD Projekt RED continues to keep many details about the highly anticipated The Witcher IV under wraps, a recent hint from the studio's narrative director suggests that the upcoming game will draw inspiration from Andrzej Sapkowski's newest novel. Philipp Weber, the narrative director, indicated that ideas from Sapkowski's latest book, titled 'The Crossroads of Ravens' (Перекрёсток воронов), are set to make their way into the game.

Weber sparked speculation when he shared a list of fantasy literature on social media. He mentioned he would be starting with the new Witcher universe book, despite admitting that he already knows all the key plot points due to his work. When a fan commented on this, Weber clarified that the situation mirrors the development of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, where elements from Sapkowski's 'Season of Storms' were incorporated into the game's story.

“I can't reveal how exactly we'll do it, but Season of Storms also came out while we developed The Witcher 3, so we still tried to include some of the new elements. You can expect something similar!” Weber stated, hinting at a similar approach for The Witcher IV.

The exact manner in which 'The Crossroads of Ravens' will influence the game remains a mystery. It could manifest as flashbacks exploring Geralt's past, new episodes featuring a younger Ciri, or entirely different narrative solutions that integrate the novel's lore. This approach highlights CD Projekt RED's continued commitment to weaving new source material directly into their game adaptations.

The Witcher IV is poised to be a massive adventure, but it's not the only Witcher-related project in development at the studio. Another game set in Andrzej Sapkowski's universe, codenamed Project Sirius, is also underway. Developed by The Molasses Flood, known for the charming survival game The Flame in the Flood, Project Sirius is expected to offer a distinct experience compared to CD Projekt RED's previous Witcher titles.

For players, this news is exciting as it ensures that The Witcher IV will maintain a strong, authentic connection to the evolving lore created by Andrzej Sapkowski. Incorporating fresh narrative elements directly from the author's latest work promises a deeper, richer experience and further solidifies the game's ties to its literary roots, keeping fans eager for more revelations.
