Batman: Arkham Shadow VR Sequel Teased by Commissioner Gordon's Voice Actor

While the main Batman Arkham series navigates a period of uncertainty, its virtual reality offshoot, Batman: Arkham Shadow, appears to be thriving. So much so that Mark Rolston, the voice actor for Commissioner Gordon in the critically acclaimed VR title, has seemingly let slip that work on a sequel is about to commence.

During an interview with Culture Combine, Rolston was asked about his experiences working on projects like Blade Runner and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. He noted that for Blade Runner, his involvement was limited to voice-over work, while for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, he participated in motion capture sessions. According to the actor, the same hybrid approach was used for Batman: Arkham Shadow. He then added a tantalizing remark: “We’re just about to start another one of those games.”

Although Rolston did not elaborate further on the details, fans have taken his statement as a strong indirect confirmation of a sequel being in development. This news is sure to excite players who enjoyed the immersive VR experience.

Batman: Arkham Shadow launched exclusively for Meta Quest 3 and 3S. The game’s story takes place between the events of Batman: Arkham Origins and Batman: Arkham Asylum. Players step into the cowl of the Caped Crusader to confront the menacing Rat King, utilizing the series' classic combat system adapted for VR, complete with gadgets and signature moves. The title garnered significant recognition, receiving the award for “Best VR/AR Game” at The Game Awards.

For players, a potential sequel means more opportunities to dive into the rich world of Gotham in virtual reality, experiencing Batman's iconic detective work and combat from a first-person perspective. The success of the first game, coupled with this hint from a key voice actor, suggests that the Arkham universe's VR future looks bright, offering an exciting new chapter for fans of the Dark Knight.
