Joe Higashi Joins the Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves Roster
SNK has just released an exciting new gameplay trailer for their upcoming fighting game, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. This latest video shines a spotlight on Joe Higashi, a fan-favorite character who is set to join the game's roster as a new DLC fighter later this autumn.
Joe Higashi is renowned for his energetic and often comedic personality, masterfully blending his martial arts prowess with a charismatic flair. His fighting style is rooted in the powerful discipline of Thai boxing, or Muay Thai, allowing him to unleash devastating punches, kicks, elbows, and knee strikes. Players familiar with SNK's universe will recognize Joe from his prominent appearances in previous Fatal Fury and The King of Fighters series, where he consistently proved to be a formidable opponent.
The Legend of Joe Continues
In City of the Wolves, Joe Higashi's arcade mode storyline takes an unexpected turn, focusing on his venture into the world of cinema. He's working on an autobiographical film titled 'The Legend of Joe,' directed by none other than Cheng Sinzan. The narrative also includes a new episode set in South Town, where Joe reflects on his journey and recalls his first meeting with his celebrated student, Preecha. As the character description puts it:
“A renowned Muay Thai fighter whose powerful strikes can cut through steel. No other kickboxer could land a finger, elbow, or knee on Joe Higashi, so the champ is switching to another beast—the film industry! His biographical documentary, 'The Legend of Joe' (directed by none other than Cheng Sinzan), is already filming in South Town. Joe is even ready to give a cameo role to his star student Preecha, whose recent tournament victories couldn’t help but make her teacher proud.”
While an exact release date for Joe Higashi hasn't been announced yet, lucky attendees of Tokyo Game Show 2025 will get an exclusive early look. They’ll be able to test out his dynamic fighting skills at the Samsung SSD booth.
Season Pass Details
Joe Higashi is part of the game's first Season Pass. Players who have already purchased the pass have been enjoying characters like Andy Bogard and the guest fighter Ken Masters from Street Fighter. Looking ahead, the Season Pass will also introduce Chun-Li, who is scheduled to arrive in December, followed by Mr. Big in early 2026, further expanding the diverse cast of combatants.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is available on PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game also supports various localizations, including Russian text.
The addition of Joe Higashi promises to bring a unique blend of powerful combat and comedic relief to Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, giving players even more options to explore and master on their path to becoming the best fighter in South Town.
