ROG Xbox Ally X Pre-Orders Sell Out Globally, Despite High Price Tag

ROG Xbox Ally X Sells Out Globally on Xbox Store

Despite a premium price point, the flagship ROG Xbox Ally X portable gaming PC has already sold out on the Xbox Store worldwide, just hours after pre-orders went live. This strong early demand signals significant excitement for the new handheld, which aims to compete with devices like the Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch 2.

Microsoft has officially unveiled the pricing for its new portable gaming PCs, developed in partnership with ASUS. Two models are available:

  • ROG Xbox Ally ($599): This base model features 16GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD, and an AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor.
  • ROG Xbox Ally X ($999): The more powerful, flagship version boasts 24GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, a more potent AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, and a larger capacity battery.

Interestingly, the top-tier ROG Xbox Ally X, at $999, is priced significantly higher than a fully equipped Xbox Series X console, which costs $729 for a 2TB version. For comparison, the most expensive Steam Deck model retails for $649, and the Nintendo Switch 2 is listed at $450.

Despite these higher costs, the demand for the Ally X has been remarkable. Microsoft's gaming division proudly announced that all stock of the ROG Xbox Ally X was depleted on the Xbox Store globally within a few hours of pre-orders opening. Players still eager to purchase the Ally X are encouraged to check other retailers and platforms.

Pre-orders are currently available in 38 countries, including the USA, UK, Australia, and various nations across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. An additional eight territories will see sales begin on October 16th, which is also the official launch date for both ROG Xbox Ally portable PCs from Xbox and ASUS.

To ensure a smooth gaming experience, Microsoft's gaming division has also launched a game compatibility program for its portable devices. This initiative aims to ensure that as many interactive titles as possible run seamlessly on the new handhelds, maximizing their appeal to a broad gaming audience.
