Remedy Entertainment Gears Up for FBC: Firebreak's First Big Update
Remedy Entertainment has announced the first major update for their cooperative shooter, FBC: Firebreak. Titled “Breakpoint,” this substantial patch is set to launch on September 29th at 8:00 PM Moscow time, aiming to refine the game based on player feedback and introduce a host of new features.
The development team has been hard at work addressing various aspects of FBC: Firebreak since its release. This upcoming update is designed to make the gameplay more dynamic and less predictable, enhancing the overall player experience.
Key Features Coming in the Breakpoint Update:
- Crisis Board System: Replacing the old mission board, the Crisis Board offers players a curated selection of crisis situations. Four to six crises, varying in scale, will occur across the map at any given time, with the board refreshing every thirty minutes to keep things fresh.
- New Crisis – Outbreak: This brand-new mission takes players to the research sector, where a mold infection creates unique challenges, new enemy types, and a dangerous new status effect.
- Expanded Enemy Roster: Players will encounter five new enemy variations, adding more diversity to combat encounters.
- Weapon Enhancements: The update introduces twenty-seven new weapon modifications, allowing for greater customization and strategic depth.
- New Heavy Weaponry & Grenades: Three new heavy weapons—a semi-automatic rifle, a sawed-off shotgun, and a rotary cannon—are being added. Players will also get three new grenade types with unique effects: freezing, healing, and black stone.
- Economic Overhaul: The game's economy is undergoing significant changes. Weapons and equipment will now be at their maximum power upon purchase, eliminating the need for further upgrades. Gear will unlock as players progress and level up. Additionally, the currency required to unlock cosmetic items and improve perks will be reduced.
- Improved Onboarding: New players will benefit from an enhanced tutorial experience.
- Early Access to Crisis Kits: All Crisis Kits will now be accessible from level 1.
- Enhanced Mobility: New slide and prone movement options will be added, boosting character mobility and survivability.
- Quality-of-Life Improvements: Expect various quality-of-life enhancements, bug fixes, and game rebalancing efforts.
Remedy Entertainment emphasized that Breakpoint is just the beginning of their ongoing commitment to improving FBC: Firebreak. The studio currently has two more major updates planned. A patch codenamed “Rogue Protocol” (subject to change) is slated for November, with another significant global update scheduled for March 2026.
FBC: Firebreak is available on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with text localization in Russian. The game was also included in Game Pass and PS Plus subscriptions at launch. These continuous updates show Remedy's dedication to evolving the game, giving players more reasons to dive back into the action and experience the unfolding narrative and gameplay improvements.
