Paradox Interactive Refunds Premium Bloodlines 2 Pre-Orders on PlayStation Store

Paradox Interactive has begun processing refunds for premium editions of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 on the PlayStation Store. This move comes as the publisher and developer The Chinese Room prepare to announce "significant adjustments" to the highly anticipated RPG, particularly regarding access to certain in-game clans.

Players who pre-ordered premium editions via the PlayStation Store will start receiving their refunds from September 8. Paradox has confirmed that the ability to pre-order these editions again will be made available closer to the game's launch.

Addressing Community Concerns

The decision to refund pre-orders is a direct response to a previous controversy. When pre-orders for Bloodlines 2 were re-opened, it was revealed that two specific vampire clans, Lasombra and Toreador, were locked behind a paywall. These clans were initially only accessible through the "Shadows and Silk" DLC or by purchasing a premium edition of the game that included the add-on. This drew widespread criticism and a strong negative reaction from the community, prompting Paradox to promise changes.

In an official statement, Paradox acknowledged their ongoing efforts to implement the promised adjustments. "We're making adjustments and will share the details on Sept 17. Big changes take time, and we want to do this right," the publisher stated. They emphasized that making these "significant changes" and ensuring everything is correctly implemented requires careful consideration of many factors, hence the phased approach.

What This Means for Players

Paradox describes these refunds as a "deliberate first step" in their plan to deliver the best possible experience at launch. Gamers can expect to learn the full details of these adjustments on September 17. This gesture signals Paradox's commitment to listening to player feedback and making meaningful improvements before the game's release.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is scheduled to launch on October 21 for PC (via Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game will include Russian subtitles.
