Vampire Survivors Dev Poncle Publishes New Roguelike 'Kill the Brickman'

Vampire Survivors Studio Poncle Ventures Into Publishing with 'Kill the Brickman'

Poncle, the acclaimed studio behind the viral hit Vampire Survivors, is expanding its horizons beyond game development. The company has announced its first foray into game publishing, bringing the quirky new title Kill the Brickman to players. The game was unveiled during a Microsoft livestream at Gamescom's second day and is already available to play.

Given Poncle's reputation for creating highly addictive and engaging indie games, it's no surprise that they've chosen to back Kill the Brickman. This turn-based roguelike focuses on block-breaking mechanics, drawing inspiration from classic arcade games while incorporating elements of deck-building and strategy.

What is Kill the Brickman?

The core gameplay of Kill the Brickman revolves around strategically selecting different types of projectiles and combining their unique properties. Players will encounter various ammunition, such as explosive bullets or corrosive projectiles, each designed to break blocks in distinct ways. The game also features boss encounters that demand specific tactical approaches to overcome.

Poncle seems highly confident in the game's addictive quality, even humorously advising players to "say goodbye to their productivity" in the press release. Luca Galante, the founder of Poncle, shed light on his decision to publish Kill the Brickman:

  • "I like bricks. Kill the Brickman is not only a brilliant deck-builder but also one of the strangest games I’ve ever played. And that’s a good thing.”

Players can dive into the brick-smashing action of Kill the Brickman right now on PC (via Steam and the Microsoft Store) and Xbox. The game is affordably priced on Steam, though it currently does not support the Russian language.

This move into publishing marks an exciting new chapter for Poncle, potentially paving the way for more unique indie titles to reach a wider audience under their guidance. For fans of challenging roguelikes and engaging puzzle-strategy, Kill the Brickman looks like a promising new time sink.
