HoYoverse Officially Unveils Honkai: Nexus Anima, Their New Creature Collector Game

Known for hit titles like Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, developer HoYoverse has officially lifted the curtain on its highly anticipated “Pokémon-like” project. First teased back in May, the game now has a full title: Honkai: Nexus Anima. It's set to be an adventure strategy game focused on collecting peculiar creatures within the expansive Honkai universe.

The world of Honkai: Nexus Anima revolves around a concept called the Nexus. This represents the invisible bonds that tie together contrasting ideas, such as Love and Hate, Light and Darkness, or Life and Death. However, this delicate balance has been shattered, tearing these connections apart and scattering their residual energy across the land. These fragments of energy manifest as sentient beings known as Animas. Players will embark on missions and engage in battles, forming deep bonds with these Animas and unlocking their unique abilities.

Each Anima possesses distinct aspects and traits that define their personality and combat style. For instance, Donubi, an intriguing hybrid of a rabbit and a donut, is identified as a “Hate Anima” and boasts the “Smart” trait. The official website currently showcases 32 of these captivating creatures, with developers hinting that many more are planned for the full game. Gameplay appears to feature auto-battler style combat, where players can combine Anima skills to devise varied battle strategies. These combinations will also influence how players explore and interact with the game's vast open world.

Players will step into the shoes of a protagonist who has escaped captivity, finding themselves in a serene and welcoming town. As the story unfolds, this main character will encounter new Anima companions, each with their own unique personalities and backstories. These Animas will join the protagonist on their journey, fighting alongside them and helping to gradually unravel the protagonist's own mysterious past.

HoYoverse is currently inviting players to participate in an upcoming technical test for Honkai: Nexus Anima, which will be available on PC and iOS devices. Interested players can submit their applications on the official website until September 12th. During this test phase, the game will support English, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese languages. A specific release date for Honkai: Nexus Anima has not yet been announced, but this official reveal and testing phase marks a significant step towards its eventual launch, offering players a fresh and engaging creature-collecting experience from a renowned developer.
