Hollow Knight: Silksong Reviews to Arrive After Game Launch

Fans eagerly awaiting the highly anticipated release of Hollow Knight: Silksong will have to wait a little longer for critical reviews. Developer Team Cherry has confirmed that media review copies will not be distributed before the game's official launch, meaning reviews will only be published after September 4th.

The news was shared by journalist Jason Schreier, who spoke directly with Team Cherry co-founders Ari Gibson and William Pellen. According to the developers, their primary reason for this decision is a matter of fairness. They believe it would be unjust to provide review copies to journalists before their dedicated Kickstarter backers, who have supported the game for years and have been waiting the longest. Team Cherry is currently focused on getting game codes to these loyal fans as quickly as possible.

Schreier, however, suggested there might be additional factors at play. He noted that Team Cherry remains a relatively small studio. It's possible they simply lack the extensive resources and time required to coordinate with numerous major media outlets while simultaneously handling the many crucial tasks leading up to a global game launch.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is set to release on September 4th across PC (Steam, GOG), PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch platforms. The game will include Russian text localization. This decision means that players looking for early critical takes will need to exercise patience, as initial impressions from reviewers will coincide with or follow the game's official release.
