The campaign stars David Mason, armed with advanced tech, battling against the cunning Raul Menendez. Players can tackle the campaign solo or in a four-player co-op. - Lords of the Fallen II: CI Games kept their promise, revealing the announcement trailer for Lords of the Fallen II. - Sekiro: No Defeat (Anime Adaptation): Recent rumors were confirmed with Kadokawa greenlighting an anime adaptation of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Set during the Sengoku period in war-torn Japan, the story follows the young Genichiro of the Ashina clan who kidnaps the Divine Heir, Kuro, to use his powers. - LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight: Another confirmed rumor saw Traveller’s Tales announce a new, large-scale LEGO Batman game. - Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: The Order of Giants DLC: MachineGames showed a full trailer for The Order of Giants, a story expansion for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. The DLC runs parallel to the main campaign, with Professor Jones aiding a young priest, Ricci, in finding a mysterious artifact hunted by the Third Reich. It launches September 4th on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series, available day one on Game Pass. A Nintendo Switch 2 port is also planned for 2026.
- Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2: The long-troubled Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 finally received a definitive release date. Players take on the role of an Elder named Fayer, awakened from torpor on Christmas Eve in modern Seattle, where Kindred factions still vie for power. A weak-blooded character named Fabien is also key, trapped in the protagonist's mind, with players needing to uncover how he got there and if the bond can be broken. Players choose Fayer's gender and clan from Brujah, Tremere, Ventrue, or Banu Haqim, with Lasombra and Toreador planned as future DLC. - Kingdom Come: Deliverance II – Legacy of the Forge DLC: Warhorse announced the release date for the second DLC for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. The Legacy of the Forge expansion launches September 9th on all platforms. This new questline sees Henry join the Kutná Hora blacksmiths' guild and earn the title of master blacksmith by rebuilding his own workshop. - World of Warcraft: Midnight: Blizzard officially presented the Midnight expansion for World of Warcraft, the second part of the global "Worldsoul Saga" storyline. In Midnight, players return to the revamped elven lands of Quel'Thalas to repel Xal'atath's invasion of Azeroth. Familiar locations have been updated and integrated into the Eastern Kingdoms for seamless travel. - Ninja Gaiden 4: Team Ninja and PlatinumGames officially released the story trailer for Ninja Gaiden 4, which had leaked earlier. In Ninja Gaiden 4, players control two protagonists: the legendary Ryu Hayabusa and a new ninja master, Yakumo, from the rival Raven clan. Yakumo is the central figure in this new story, fighting the corruption of the Dark Dragon in futuristic Tokyo. - ZERO PARADES (New RPG from ZA/UM): ZA/UM fully announced ZERO PARADES, a new isometric RPG previously known as PROJECT [C4]. Players can expect a psychedelic spy detective game starring the tormented operative Hershel Wilk, who lost her team five years prior. The game's world itself is a character with its own secrets and wonders. To succeed, players must navigate a three-way struggle for cultural and ideological power, encountering international bankers, technofascists, psychic doppelgängers, and more. - Cronos: The New Dawn: Bloober Team continued to build anticipation for their action horror game, Cronos: The New Dawn. From the creators of Layers of Fear and the Silent Hill 2 remake, players control the Wanderer, an agent of a mysterious Collective whose actions determine humanity's fate in a post-apocalyptic world. Players explore ruined locations for anomalies that can transport the Wanderer to the past before the catastrophe. In a collapsing Krakow, the goal is to find important people who died in the cataclysm, extract their essences using a special device, and bring them back to the future. - Resident Evil: Requiem: Capcom showed a brief segment from Resident Evil: Requiem, focusing on the protagonist's backstory. In the ninth mainline Resident Evil game, players control FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft – daughter of reporter Alyssa Ashcroft from 2003's Resident Evil: Outbreak. Set 30 years after the Raccoon City nightmare, Grace investigates a new case, confronting tragic memories. It is slated for release on February 27th, 2026, on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series, with a demo available at Gamescom.
- Ghost of Yōtei (Legends DLC): In a new trailer for Ghost of Yōtei, Sucker Punch Productions announced the free Legends DLC. Like in Ghost of Tsushima, Legends offers a co-op campaign set in a supernatural world, including two-player story missions and four-player survival matches. - Black Myth: Zhong Kui: Game Science, known for their action RPGs based on Chinese folklore, is expanding the "Black Myth" series. After the game about Sun Wukong, they're developing a story about Zhong Kui, the ghost queller god who travels between hell and the mortal world. Black Myth: Zhong Kui is in early production for PC and current-gen consoles.
- John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando: Saber Interactive set a release window for their intense zombie action game, John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando. Players can expect a co-op adventure blending 80s action movie vibes with humor and gory gunfights in the spirit of John Carpenter's works. The story centers on a mercenary squad, humanity's last hope against the Sludge God, which emerged from a failed Earth core energy experiment. It launches early 2026 on PC (Epic Games Store), Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5.
- Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault: The sequel to the popular roguelike Moonlighter received a new gameplay trailer and an official release date. In Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault, protagonist Will is stuck with companions in a mysterious dimension, settling in the village of Tresna. As in the first game, he manages his shop and organizes dungeon expeditions. The plot revolves around a mysterious collector promising to return Will home in exchange for powerful artifacts. It launches October 23rd on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
Gamescom Opening Night Live Pre-Show Highlights
The half-hour pre-show offered quick glimpses at various projects:
- Bubsy 4D: Atari hasn't forgotten the Bubsy series, infamous for the dreadful Bubsy 3D. This time, Fabraz is at the helm, announcing the new intergalactic adventure platformer Bubsy 4D. Join Bubsy the bobcat in this new 3D adventure with new challenges, moves, and personality, all in space! Run, jump, glide, and roll across alien planets, battling robot sheep and collecting tons of yarn. What could possibly go wrong? Bubsy’s old enemies, the yarn-obsessed Woolies, kidnapped all the sheep on Earth. This didn't bother Bubsy until the sheep overthrew their captors and returned as deadly BeBeBots, armed with Woolie tech and determined to steal Bubsy's most prized possession: the Golden Fleece. Fabraz is developing Bubsy 4D for PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store), PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch, with no release date yet.
- Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes: Fans of the cult series were thrilled by the announcement of Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes, a story-driven roguelike tactical game from indie studio Alt Shift. Set in an alternate universe where Cylons won their attack on humanity, players command a refugee fleet after the fall of the Twelve Colonies, acting immediately to save humankind. It releases in 2026 exclusively on PC (Steam).
- Outlaws + Handful of Missions: Remaster: Nightdive Studios continues to re-release classics, this time with a remaster of Outlaws, LucasArts' old Western shooter. Outlaws + Handful of Missions features high-res, uncompressed cutscenes and updated graphics for weapons, characters, and enemies. It also offers cross-platform co-op, up to 4K resolution at 120 FPS, modern gamepad support with a new weapon wheel and gyro controls, 26 achievements, and a secret archive of bonus materials. - Denshattack!: Undercoders, supported by Fireshine Games, is developing the wild train platformer Denshattack! Jump onto a gravity-defying train, customize it, and join a colorful group of outcasts to help Amy defeat the Miraidō corporation on a chaotic journey. Ride through Japan's largest cities, over meadows, volcanoes, and oceans, performing ollies, kickflips, and grinds. Control a customizable train, earn points by performing tricks, race real Japanese train models, and gain respect in the bandit underground. Grow from a novice to an ace and challenge the world's fastest train for the title of legendary Densha Warrior! Denshattack! is planned for 2026 on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
- He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction: Another classic TV show gets a new game: a dynamic beat 'em up side-scroller from Bitmap Bureau based on "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe." The developers promise classic arcade-era retro gameplay, 12 diverse levels, a rich arsenal of abilities and spells for playable heroes, and quality pixel art. It's announced for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch, with no release date yet.
- Long Gone: Independent studio Hillfort Games announced Long Gone, a new zombie apocalypse adventure game. Its unique visual style combines pixel art and sprite animations with 3D environments and realistic lighting. Uncover the old world's mysteries by solving puzzles, navigating overgrown streets, and learning about people through their left-behind belongings in a crumbling neighborhood. The game features an extensive system for examining, carrying, combining, and interacting with hundreds of objects, all detailed in unique low-poly pixel art 3D graphics. Long Gone is currently announced for PC (Steam), with no release date.
- Valor Mortis: A notable announcement came from One More Level, the creators of Ghostrunner: they are working on a first-person Souls-like called Valor Mortis. This new action RPG places players in an alternate version of the Napoleonic Wars, complicated by a mysterious plague. The protagonist is William, a French soldier who died in battle but was resurrected. Facing Europe's horrors, he takes up arms again to understand what's happening. - PVKK: Planetenverteidigungskanonenkommandant: The concisely titled PVKK: Planetenverteidigungskanonenkommandant from German indie studio Bippinbits also received a release window in a new trailer. Players act as a gunner for an autocratic regime, locked in a defensive bunker. The main task is to manually control a massive planetary defense cannon to repel an ongoing alien invasion. PVKK will launch on PC (Steam) in Summer 2026.
- Routine: The long-awaited horror game Routine from Lunar Software is almost ready for release, over 10 years after its announcement. This sci-fi first-person horror game, stylized after classic 80s sci-fi novels, takes place on an abandoned lunar station. As life on the station fades, a simple walk becomes a desperate fight for survival. Seeking answers, players face an enemy who sees them as the main threat to their plans and will stop at nothing to destroy them. Discoveries lead deeper and deeper, leaving only one option: keep moving. Explore the station, making your way through abandoned shopping malls and crumbling residential areas. Each sector has its own unique atmosphere. It releases late this year on PC (Steam) and Xbox, including Game Pass.
- Road Kings: Saber Interactive continues to announce games, this time with a new truck simulator, Road Kings. Get behind the wheel of a 40-ton truck, delivering cargo across the coastal plains of the American South. You'll manage many tasks, trailers, and routes from busy Jacksonville to the shaded streets of historic Savannah. Start as a rookie driver and earn a reputation as a professional private hauler, battling cunning rivals, dangerous weather, and treacherous roads in the detailed world of Road Kings. Saber Interactive plans to release Road Kings in 2026 on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
- Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds: The final pre-show announcement was Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, a collaboration with the iconic Pac-Man series, featuring the yellow hero joining Sonic's races and getting his own track. Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds launches September 25th on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch. A pre-release test will run from August 29th to September 1st.
More Gamescom 2025 Reveals
- Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion: The futuristic mech action game Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion received an official demo, available on all target platforms, celebrated with a new trailer. It launches September 5th on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2.
- VOID/BREAKER: During the live broadcast, VOID/BREAKER launched in early access – a dynamic first-person roguelike shooter where players battle ruthless machines in an endless cycle created by a hostile AI. To win, players must constantly improve their abilities and upgrade weapons with deadlier modifications. It's currently available on Steam and Game Pass. After full release, it will come to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
- Marvel’s Deadpool VR: Just months after its announcement, Twisted Pixel Games confirmed the exact release date for Marvel’s Deadpool VR. VR headset owners should dust off their gear for this new insane action game featuring the famous Deadpool. Potty humor and fourth-wall breaks are included. It launches November 18th exclusively for Quest 3 and Quest 3S.
- World of Tanks Update 2.0: Wargaming announced the release date for Update 2.0 for World of Tanks. This is the biggest update in the game's history, including Tier 11 vehicles, a new map, rebalancing, updated matchmaking, and more.
- Death by Scrolling: Game designer Ron Gilbert, known for The Secret of Monkey Island, Maniac Mansion, and Thimbleweed Park, announced his new project: the pixel roguelike Death By Scrolling. - La Divina Commedia: Jyamma Games, the Italian studio behind Enotria: The Last Song, announced their new action RPG, La Divina Commedia. As the name suggests, the project is based on Dante Alighieri's "Divine Comedy." In the game world, "Divine Comedy" replaced traditional religion, ushering in a golden age of human righteousness. But dark forces broke the poem's vow, plunging the world into chaos. Players, as a warrior-poet, must traverse the circles of hell and fight powerful demons to atone for a sinful past. It promises diverse classes and procedurally generated dungeons. Announced for PC (Steam), no release date yet.
- World of Tanks: HEAT: Wargaming announced World of Tanks: HEAT. Unlike the original, this spin-off forgets realism for increased absurdity. In an alternate reality shaped by scientific progress and global cooperation, humanity's technological marvels become focal points in a world conflict. Elite agents in high-tech tanks with unique combat abilities lead a new type of war where precision, firepower, and tactical superiority determine the winner. - Project Spectrum: The creators of the new Delta Force, Team Jade, are developing a new first-person horror action game called Project Spectrum, previously known as CrossFire: Rainbow. It combines tactical team-based first-person shooter elements with asymmetrical battles in a dark setting. Players can play as operatives or monsters. The story's key force is Ember, which transforms everything it touches into dangerous zones. Players are operatives leading risky missions in these zones. It's announced for PC, no release date yet.
- inZOI: Island Getaway (DLC): Krafton announced the upcoming release of Island Getaway, the first free DLC for the life simulator inZOI. - The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin: Netmarble showed a colorful trailer for The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin, a new free-to-play action RPG based on "The Seven Deadly Sins." The trailer promotes the upcoming closed beta, with registration now open. It's set to launch this year on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, iOS, and Android, with no exact date yet.
- Enshrouded (Content Update): The action RPG survival game Enshrouded is preparing for its seventh global content update. Early Access for Enshrouded currently boasts over 70,000 "very positive reviews" (86%) on Steam.
