Battlefield 6 Developers Confirm Strong Performance on Lower-End PCs During Beta

Battlefield 6 Optimized for a Wide Range of PC Hardware

For many gamers, upgrading a PC isn't always an option, leading to compromises in game performance. When a developer doesn't prioritize optimization, the experience can suffer significantly. However, it seems players won't face this issue with Battlefield 6, as confirmed by Technical Director Christian Buhl.

Buhl recently shared insights into the game's beta phase, revealing that a 'significant portion' of the 'millions of people' who participated were playing on lower-end hardware. He even noted that some systems fell below the game's minimum specifications.

According to Buhl, focusing on budget PC configurations is crucial from both a commercial and business perspective. EA and Battlefield Studios are dedicated to ensuring that as many players as possible can enjoy Battlefield 6.

When we were creating maps, we had to go back to our artists to refine locations to improve performance. We made huge efforts on all fronts to achieve performance targets, and now, whether you play on minimum or ultra settings, you will get the experience we were aiming for.

The team extensively tested Battlefield 6's performance across a wide array of hardware, including systems both above and below the minimum and recommended requirements. To further guarantee a stable framerate, the developers made the decision to forgo ray tracing. Buhl confirmed that this feature will not be present in Battlefield 6 at launch or in the foreseeable future.

Players can dive into Battlefield 6 starting October 10 for PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. This commitment to wide-ranging optimization means that a broader audience of players will be able to experience the game without needing the absolute latest hardware, a welcome move for the gaming community.
