Elden Ring: Nightreign Co-op Patch Delayed by Tsunami Warning
The highly anticipated Patch 1.02 for Elden Ring: Nightreign, which is set to introduce two-player cooperative play, has been delayed by one day. Developer FromSoftware announced the postponement, citing a tsunami warning issued in Japan following a powerful earthquake.
Originally scheduled for release today, July 30th, the update will now arrive on July 31st. The official Elden Ring social media account confirmed the new distribution time as after 10:00 CEST | 1:00 PDT.
The decision comes after a significant earthquake with a magnitude of 8.8 struck off the coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula on July 30th, as reported by the local branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences' Geophysical Service. This seismic event triggered tsunami warnings across several countries, including Japan, where FromSoftware is headquartered.
It's highly probable that FromSoftware opted to delay the patch out of concern for the safety of its employees and to prevent potential operational disruptions during a period of uncertainty and danger. The tsunami alert has already led to the cancellation or suspension of various public events, including concerts, throughout Japan.
Once released, Patch 1.02 will finally bring dedicated two-player co-op to Elden Ring: Nightreign. Previously, players were limited to solo exploration or groups of three. The update is also expected to deliver various user interface improvements. Additionally, the second phase of the Everdark Sovereign in-game event has been moved and will now commence only after Patch 1.02 is live.
For players eager to team up with a single friend, the wait will be just a little longer. This brief delay ensures the safety of the development team and a smoother rollout of the update, allowing players to dive into the new co-op experience with peace of mind.
