Dying Light: The Beast to Launch Without Microtransactions

As the release of Dying Light: The Beast draws closer, developers at Techland continue to build anticipation for their new title. Franchise Director Tymon Smektała recently confirmed that there are no plans to introduce any microtransactions into The Beast.

This decision likely stems from negative feedback received regarding Dying Light 2: Stay Human. The sequel faced renewed criticism when, about 18 months after its launch, Techland introduced premium currency called DL Points. A common issue for players was often having to purchase more points than needed to acquire cosmetic items, which ultimately impacted Techland's reputation.

Although Dying Light: The Beast is technically a spin-off, the developers are positioning it as a full-fledged third installment that will unveil a new chapter in the story of Kyle Crane. Crane, the protagonist from the first game, breaks free after 13 years of imprisonment. Following his escape, the hero finds himself in an unfamiliar rural area, where he must survive, regain his strength, and devise a plan for revenge against his tormentors.

Dying Light: The Beast is set to release on September 19 for PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game will include full Russian localization. Originally, the launch was planned for August 22, but the developers decided to take additional time for polish and refinement. This commitment to player satisfaction, including the absence of microtransactions, aims to deliver a more focused and complete experience from day one.
