Valorant Unveils Veto, Its New Sentinel Agent with Mutant Abilities

Riot Games Introduces Veto, Valorant's Latest Agent

During the intense Valorant Champions Paris finals, Riot Games officially pulled back the curtain on the newest agent set to join the tactical shooter's growing roster. Players can look forward to welcoming Veto, a formidable new Sentinel class character, who specializes in defensive plays and holding critical map areas.

Meet Veto: The Mutant from Senegal

Veto hails from Senegal and brings a unique twist to Valorant's gameplay with his DNA mutations. These mutations allow him to neutralize and counteract enemy abilities, making him a truly challenging opponent. When facing Veto, teams will find themselves unable to rely on their usual skill-based tactics, instead forced to engage primarily with firearms and precise gunplay.

Veto's ability kit is designed to control space and disrupt enemy pushes:

  • Chokehold: Veto forms a clump of his mutation and throws it. Upon impact with a surface, it creates a trap that holds enemies in place and applies debuffs, severely hindering their movement and combat effectiveness.
  • Crosscut: This ability places a vortex on the ground. Veto can then teleport to this vortex if he is within its range and has a clear line of sight to it, offering quick repositioning or escape options.
  • Interceptor: Veto deploys an activated interceptor device. This device is capable of destroying any projectile that bounces off a player or can typically be destroyed by gunfire, providing crucial defense against grenades, utility, and other incoming threats.
  • Evolution (Ultimate Ability): Veto instantly triggers a full mutation. During this ultimate, he gains a combat stim, regenerates health, and becomes completely immune to all debuffs, turning him into a temporary powerhouse capable of pushing through enemy lines or holding a position with unwavering resolve.

Release Date

Players won't have to wait long to get their hands on Veto. He is scheduled to join the Valorant agent lineup on October 7th, arriving as part of Act 5 of the 2025 season. This release promises to shake up the meta and offer new strategic depth for both competitive and casual play.

What Veto Means for Players

Veto's introduction marks a significant addition to Valorant's agent pool, particularly for Sentinel enthusiasts. His unique ability to neutralize enemy skills could dramatically shift how teams approach engagements, forcing opponents to reconsider their utility usage and rely more on raw gun skill. Players will need to adapt their strategies to either counter Veto's disruptive presence or fully utilize his defensive and counter-play potential to dominate the battlefield.
