Massive Fan Expansion 'Lordbound' for Skyrim Now Available
Eleven years in the making, the highly anticipated fan-made expansion, Lordbound, has finally been released for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Developed by the independent Lordbound Team, this colossal modification adds a new storyline, region, and a wealth of content, effectively creating a DLC-sized experience for veteran players.
The developers have described this initial release as a "soft launch," considering it a beta version. The team is currently focused on squashing bugs and fully voice-acting all secondary characters. While most voice lines have been recorded, they are still undergoing editing. However, players can dive into the core features of Lordbound right now, which include:
- A vast, non-linear main campaign with side quests, offering over 60 hours of gameplay.
- More than 40 new quests and 50 dungeons to explore.
- An expanded soundtrack to enrich the new environments.
- A host of new spells, armor, weapons, resources, and much more.
The new adventure takes players to the Druadach Valley, a completely new region that surpasses the size of Solstheim from the Dragonborn DLC. After two centuries of isolation, the valley is beginning to reconnect with Skyrim and High Rock. The local chieftain, Garshakour Gorek, has refused to surrender his mountain fortress to the Imperial Legion, gaining control over vital strategic routes. This decision has sparked a civil war among three warring factions, each vying for the Dragonborn's assistance.
What Lordbound Means for Players
This release offers a compelling reason for fans to revisit Skyrim and experience a fresh, expansive adventure. Lordbound isn't just a small addition; it's a labor of love that promises dozens of hours of new content, deepening the lore and providing new challenges. The ongoing work on bug fixes and full voice acting means that the experience will only improve over time, making it an exciting prospect for anyone looking to extend their journey in Tamriel.
Lordbound can be downloaded via Nexus Mods or ModDB. Currently, the modification is available exclusively in English.
