Nintendo has officially announced that two of Mario's most beloved space-faring adventures, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2, are coming to the Nintendo Switch. Players can look forward to reliving or discovering these acclaimed titles starting October 2nd, available both digitally and physically.
The bundle, which includes both games, will retail for $69.99. For those who wish to purchase them separately, each game will be available for $39.99.
Enhanced Features for a New Generation
These updated versions of the classic Wii adventures promise a richer experience for players. Both games will support 1080p resolution on the Nintendo Switch, with an impressive 4K resolution planned for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Beyond graphical fidelity, players can expect a refreshed user interface, new storybook content, a dedicated soundtrack listening mode, and amiibo support, adding more ways to enjoy the games.
A new Assist Mode will also be available, making it easier for newcomers to navigate the challenges of the cosmos. This ensures that players of all skill levels can dive into Mario's galactic quests.
Journey Through the Stars with Mario and Friends
In these iconic platformers, Mario embarks on a mission to rescue Princess Peach and gather stolen Power Stars across a myriad of unique planets and galaxies. The second installment sees Mario teaming up with his trusty dinosaur companion, Yoshi, and introduces players to a cast of familiar faces, including Rosalina, Lubba, Bowser, Bowser Jr., the Lumas, and Toad. Luigi also joins the adventure as an unlockable character, offering a different way to play.
Mario and Yoshi gain a variety of fun new abilities through different power-ups:
- Bee Mario: Allows Mario to fly short distances and cling to flowers.
- Ghost Mario: Lets Mario float and phase through certain obstacles.
- Rock Mario: Transforms Mario into a rolling boulder that can smash through objects.
- Ice Mario: Enables Mario to slide on ice and freeze enemies.
- Fire Mario: Grants Mario the ability to shoot fireballs.
- Cloud Mario: Allows Mario to create temporary cloud platforms.
Yoshi also receives some new tricks in Super Mario Galaxy 2, including the ability to run faster, inflate like a balloon to reach higher areas, and illuminate hidden platforms with his glow ability.
