Steam User Sonix Sets New Record with Over 40,000 Games

Steam User Sonix Breaks Gaming Record

The world of PC gaming has a new benchmark to celebrate. A dedicated Steam user, known by the handle Sonix, has officially become the first person in the history of Valve's platform to own more than 40,000 games. This monumental achievement earned them the extremely rare 'Game Collector: 40,000+' badge.

According to data from SteamDB, Sonix officially surpassed the 40,000-game mark on September 23, 2025, reaching a total of 40,029 titles. But the collection doesn't stop there; Sonix's account also boasts an impressive 22,136 pieces of DLC and nearly 27,000 games on their wishlist. This extensive library is estimated by SteamDB to be worth over $250,000.

Hailing from Shanghai, Sonix's account has been active for 15 years and has reached an astounding Level 303. To put this into perspective, a typical active gamer with a 12-year history on Steam might only be around Level 13, highlighting the sheer dedication involved in building such a massive collection.

Among the thousands of titles, Sonix's most played game is the free-to-play multiplayer shooter, Alien Swarm (released in 2010), where they have logged 551 hours. As of the time of this report, Sonix holds the top spot for the largest game collection on Steam. Following close behind is user Ian Brandon Anderson with 39,495 games, while ikun secures third place with 36,660 games. Interestingly, all three top collectors updated their records on the same day, September 23rd.

For those inspired to grow their own collections, even if not quite to Sonix's unprecedented level, the upcoming Steam Autumn Sale offers a perfect opportunity. The sale is set to begin on September 29th at 8:00 PM Moscow time, allowing players to grab new titles and perhaps edge a little closer to this incredible new standard in digital game collecting.
