Silent Hill f Producer Surprised by Game's High Review Scores

Silent Hill f Garners Enthusiastic Reviews, Producer Expresses Surprise

The highly anticipated horror title, Silent Hill f, has officially landed with critics, and the reviews are overwhelmingly positive. The game has received an enthusiastic reception, collecting strong scores and delighting fans worldwide. However, the game's producer, Motoi Okamoto, has revealed his surprise at the positive critical consensus.

Okamoto took to social media to share his thoughts, stating he hadn't anticipated such a warm welcome for the title. "I am happy that the game received 86 points on Metascore—the same as the Silent Hill 2 remake," Okamoto wrote. "I expected the reviews for the game to be mixed, as it has many challenging points, such as being set in Japan, having a story written by Ryukishi-sensei, and a game design focused on combat. But I am very grateful that the game received such a high evaluation."

Indeed, Silent Hill f's decision to move its setting to Japan and incorporate narrative contributions from Ryukishi-sensei (known for his work on the When They Cry series) were significant departures for the franchise. The increased emphasis on combat also represented a notable shift from previous installments, leading Okamoto to believe these elements might divide opinion among critics and fans alike. Despite these perceived risks, it appears these creative choices have resonated positively.

The game's Metascore of 86 places it among the highest-rated entries in the series, matching the critical success of the Silent Hill 2 remake. This strong performance signals a promising future for the latest installment in the iconic horror franchise.

Silent Hill f is set to release on PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Players who purchased the Deluxe Edition can start their journey into the horrors of Silent Hill f on September 23, while the standard edition will be available to all other buyers on September 25. The game will also include Russian text localization.

For players, these high scores mean that Silent Hill f delivers on its promise, offering a fresh yet critically acclaimed take on the beloved horror series. The producer's surprise only underscores the game's success in navigating its innovative choices while maintaining the quality fans expect.
