Riot Games' 2XKO Fighting Game Enters Early Access October 7th

2XKO to Launch in PC Early Access This October

Riot Games has officially announced that their upcoming free-to-play fighting game, 2XKO, is set to enter early access on PC starting October 7th. This highly anticipated title, set within the expansive League of Legends universe, marks a significant step for Riot into the fighting game genre.

The announcement follows a period of closed beta testing, which began two weeks prior. During this phase, players have been actively trying out new champions, including Vi and Blitzcrank. The developers noted that this beta was crucial for stress-testing the online systems at scale, fixing bugs, and fine-tuning the matchmaking. The community's engagement has even sparked various fan-made tournaments globally, highlighting the excitement surrounding the game.

The closed beta will conclude on October 7th, immediately transitioning into the early access launch. This will introduce the first full version of the game, complete with a new content season and features like a dedicated combo training mode. A major highlight for players is that all progress made after the early access launch will be permanent, meaning any unlocks will carry over indefinitely.

Season 0 and Future Content

The initial early access period is dubbed “Season 0.” Riot Games plans a robust seasonal model for 2XKO, with five full seasons scheduled for 2026. Each season is expected to bring a new champion, a battle pass, and updates to the ranked system. The tenth champion will be revealed alongside the early access launch, with a gameplay trailer coming soon.

Competitive Scene Support

Riot is also heavily investing in the competitive scene for 2XKO. Through their “First Impact” program, the company plans to fund 22 amateur tournaments by the end of 2025, offering additional prize pools and bonuses for winners. The first of these tournaments will take place at Evo France from October 10th to 12th. Attendees at the event will also have the opportunity to try out 2XKO at a dedicated booth.

The full release of 2XKO is planned for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. The early access launch on October 7th provides an exciting opportunity for PC players to jump into the action and help shape the future of this promising new fighting game.
