Rematch Finally Launches Cross-Play Update After Multiple Delays

Rematch Players Can Now Enjoy Cross-Platform Matchmaking

Fans of Sloclap’s arcade football title, Rematch, can finally celebrate: the game’s much-anticipated cross-play update has been released. After several postponements that tested players' patience, the third major patch for Rematch is now live, bringing with it a more connected experience across different platforms.

This significant update introduces cross-platform matchmaking and social features, allowing players on various systems to find matches and interact with each other seamlessly. However, it's important to note that while cross-platform play is here, cross-progression – the ability to carry your game progress between different devices – is not currently planned by Sloclap.

What Else Does the New Patch Bring?

Beyond the headline cross-play feature, the latest patch also implements several other improvements and additions to Rematch. These include:

  • A new report system designed to help maintain a fair and positive gaming environment.
  • Additional levels for the endgame Battle Pass, offering more challenges and rewards for dedicated players.
  • Other unspecified quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes, ensuring a smoother gameplay experience.

A Road Paved with Delays

The journey to this cross-play release hasn't been without its bumps. The patch was originally slated for September 4th but was repeatedly delayed. Sloclap explained that during final internal tests, a significant matchmaking issue tied to cross-play was discovered. This bug caused a considerable number of testers to get stuck in the match search mode, unable to cancel or restart the process.

The developers expressed their apologies for the repeated delays, acknowledging the disappointment among the player base. They affirmed their commitment to releasing stable updates and stated that they would refrain from announcing specific release dates for future patches until they are absolutely certain they can meet them. Sloclap also mentioned that they are actively working on optimizing their development workflow to improve the quality of future Rematch updates.

For players, this patch means a potentially revitalized Rematch community. The ability to play with a wider pool of opponents across platforms should lead to faster matchmaking times and a more vibrant multiplayer experience, hopefully making the wait well worth it.
