Konami Confirms Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 is Still in Development

Fans eager for the next installment of classic Metal Gear Solid games on modern platforms have received a hopeful update. During a recent Metal Gear Production Hotline stream, franchise producer Noriaki Okamura reassured players that the second volume of the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection is indeed still in development and progressing according to schedule.

Patience, Patriots!

It has been two years since Konami launched Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, a compilation that brought iconic titles like Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater to PC and current-gen consoles. The "Vol. 1" in its title naturally hinted at future releases, sparking widespread anticipation for what Konami might include in a second collection.

During the stream, which primarily focused on the upcoming Fox Hunt online mode for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Okamura briefly touched upon the highly anticipated sequel. He acknowledged the lengthy wait since the first volume's release.

"Of course, it's been quite some time [since Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 launched]. Since we named the first part Vol. 1, it's natural to expect a second part. But as we've said many times, we need more time. We've been working diligently on this project while also releasing Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater," Okamura stated during the broadcast. "When the time comes, we will share news not only about the production progress but also about our future plans. I apologize for constantly repeating this, but please wait a little longer. In fact, it's hard to say exactly how long this 'little' will last, but the project is developing properly, and we believe it will become something truly interesting. So, please be patient and wait for the official announcements."

This update confirms that Konami is juggling multiple high-profile projects simultaneously, including the full remake of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, which is likely a significant undertaking.

What Could Be in Vol. 2?

While Konami has not yet revealed the specific titles for the second collection, fan speculation is rampant. The most requested game is undoubtedly Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, which remains exclusively available on PlayStation 3, making it a challenging title for many modern players to access. Another strong contender is Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, a critically acclaimed handheld title that serves as a prequel to Metal Gear Solid V.

The prospect of these beloved games being modernized and made available on new platforms is exciting for long-time fans and newcomers alike. While the wait continues, Okamura's assurance provides a clear indication that Konami is committed to expanding the accessibility of the classic Metal Gear saga.

For now, fans will need to heed Okamura's call for patience, with the promise that more details will emerge when the development reaches a suitable stage. The future looks bright for experiencing more of Snake's legendary adventures.
