Independent studio Voidmaw, with support from publisher Acclaim, has recently launched its latest project, Katanaut. This new title thrusts players into a fast-paced action roguelike experience, blending elements of Metroidvania within a monster-infested cosmic setting.
At the heart of the game is the titular Katanaut, a cyber-ninja and one of the few survivors on a derelict space station. Following a catastrophic event that saw command structures collapse and most of the crew transform into bloodthirsty creatures, the Katanaut must now uncover the truth behind the disaster and, if possible, find a path to salvation.
Gameplay: Procedural Mayhem and Meta-Progression
Katanaut offers engaging gameplay centered around navigating procedurally generated environments. Each new run presents a fresh layout, ensuring that no two playthroughs are exactly alike.
