Trailblazers, prepare for a fresh adventure! HoYoverse has officially announced that Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.6, titled "Darkness Returns to the Wastelands," is set to release on September 24th. Revealed during a special live stream, this anticipated update will introduce a host of new characters, engaging events, and an exciting new gameplay mode. Perhaps the most awaited news is the availability of Dan Heng: Wastelander Ranger as a special gift for players.

New Characters and Featured Light Cones

The upcoming Version 3.6 invites players to add several new and powerful characters to their roster:

• An alternate version of March 7th, referred to as "Darkness," who follows the Path of Memory and deals Ice damage. She will be featured in the first half of the patch.
• Herta, an esteemed member of the Genius Society, who specializes in Erudition and Ice damage. She will also be available in the first half of the patch.
• Dan Heng: Wastelander Ranger, a Physical type character following the Path of Preservation. He will be featured in the second half of the patch. After gaining the power of the Stellaron Eater, Dan Heng advances further along the Path of Permanence, becoming the Wastelander Ranger and gaining the ability to provide powerful defensive support to the team.
• Anax, one of the Seven Sages of the Muse Grove, is a Wind-type character on the Path of Erudition. Anax will be available in the second half of the patch.

Adding to the excitement, from the start of Dan Heng: Wastelander Ranger's Warp period until the end of Version 4.0, Trailblazers at Equilibrium Level 3 and above can acquire this character as a login gift, making him accessible to many players.

Players can also look forward to an increased drop rate for several 4-star characters across the patch's Warp events:

• First half: Misha (Destruction: Ice), Guinaifen (Nihility: Fire), and Xueyi (Destruction: Quantum).
• Second half: Sushang (The Hunt: Physical), Serval (Erudition: Lightning), and Hanya (Harmony: Physical).

Additionally, the probability of obtaining several 5-star Light Cones will be boosted. These include "Starlight in the Long Night" (Memory), "Towards the Undeniable" (Erudition), "May the Expanse Be Limitless" (Preservation), and "Life Cast into Flames" (Erudition).

Engaging Quests and Fresh Activities

The narrative in Honkai: Star Rail continues to unfold dramatically. In the previous version, Trailblazers took on the role of a Savior, guiding Amphoreus out of a crisis and concluding the pursuit of the flame. However, the situation on Amphoreus remains volatile and its future uncertain. "Darkness," embodying March 7th's forgotten past, will strive to save Amphoreus by bringing to life her vision of an era where the land revives.

Meanwhile, Dan Heng plans his return to Amphoreus, prepared to risk everything to reunite with the Star Rail crew, signaling a pivotal moment in his personal journey and the overall story.

Beyond the main story, Version 3.6 introduces several new events:

• One event challenges players to care for a Geosaur cub. This newborn Geosaur is described as having extraordinary talent and boundless potential, making Trailblazers responsible for its growth, including feeding it red soil.
• The "Colorful Battle" event allows Trailblazers to compete against other players in various challenges.
• The popular "Seal Slaughter" event makes a return, reimagined as a new co-op mode called "Pair of Seals."

For those seeking a greater challenge, "Anomaly Arbitration" will offer a more difficult experience, refreshing once per version. This mode features three trial levels and a final level where Trailblazers will face exceptionally strong opponents. Completing the final level rewards a new item: an "Intervention Key." This key can lock one additional sub-stat on a Relic during rerolling with the probability dice, providing a significant boost to artifact optimization.

A new in-game shop will also be introduced, allowing players to exchange tokens for various rewards, including the adorable Echidna pet. These shop tokens can be earned by completing levels in Anomaly Arbitration. As an extra bonus, Pom-Pom will grant a free Intervention Key and a quantity of these new tokens upon logging into the game during Version 3.6.

System Enhancements for Improved Experience

Version 3.6 also brings quality-of-life improvements to enhance the player experience:

• A much-anticipated story replay function will be added. Trailblazers can now re-experience previously completed Trailblaze Missions, Trailblaze Continuance, and Companion Missions. Players will also have the flexibility to select specific scenes or story cutscenes to rewatch.
• A "Travel News" feature will be implemented, providing players with quick access to important events and updates relevant to the current version.
