Hollow Knight: Silksong Fans Quickly Create Co-Op Mods After Launch

Hollow Knight: Silksong Community Unlocks Multiplayer with Early Mods

Less than a week after the highly anticipated release of Hollow Knight: Silksong, the game's passionate community has already surprised players with significant fan-made modifications. Beyond the expected balance tweaks and difficulty adjustments, enthusiasts have managed to develop a pair of impressive cooperative gameplay mods.

The first notable effort comes from modder nek5, whose creation, 'SilklessCoop,' was developed in a remarkable two days. To play cooperatively using this mod, players need to set up their own local server and input its parameters into a configuration file. However, 'SilklessCoop' is known to encounter crashes and stability issues, leading many users to prefer a more recent alternative.

This alternative is the 'Silksong Steam multiplayer mod,' developed by Chinese enthusiast XvX. This mod leverages Valve's own online services, resulting in a much more stable connection for players. While it boasts improved reliability, it currently has its own set of limitations. At present, partners can only engage in PvP (player-versus-player) battles, with PvE (player-versus-environment) functionality planned for future updates. The mod is under active development, and a recent update even added map synchronization, a crucial feature for a seamless multiplayer experience.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is available on PC (Steam, GOG), PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, and also features Russian text localization. It is also accessible through Game Pass subscriptions. The rapid emergence of these multiplayer mods, despite their early stage, showcases the incredible dedication of the Hollow Knight community and offers players new and exciting ways to experience the game, even if they have to navigate a few bugs along the way.
