Ghost of Yōtei Trailer Highlights PS5 Features, Dev Discusses Game Scope

New Ghost of Yōtei Trailer Showcases PlayStation 5 Advantages

Sony and Sucker Punch Productions recently released a new trailer for their upcoming title, Ghost of Yōtei. The video highlights several features familiar to PlayStation 5 users, including rapid loading times and the immersive support for haptic feedback, promising a more engaging experience for players.

Alongside the trailer, an interview with Sucker Punch co-founder Brian Fleming was published on the Game File website. Fleming shared some interesting details and insights into the development of Ghost of Yōtei, giving fans a glimpse into what they can expect from the highly anticipated sequel.

Developers Prioritize Quality Over Just Longer Gameplay

According to Fleming, Ghost of Yōtei will be slightly longer in playtime compared to its predecessor, Ghost of Tsushima. However, he stressed that the development team didn't set out to create a longer campaign purely for the sake of it. Instead, their main priorities were ensuring variety in gameplay and maintaining overall quality throughout the experience. Fleming noted that creating a sequel offered a valuable opportunity for the studio to take a beloved foundation and elevate it even further, pushing the boundaries of what was established in the first game.

In the same discussion, the head of Sucker Punch mentioned that the budget for Ghost of Yōtei is comparable to that of Ghost of Tsushima. While the exact production cost for the original game remains unconfirmed – with figures around $60 million circulating online but lacking reliable sources – this insight suggests a similar scale of ambition and resources dedicated to the new installment.

Release Date and Review Embargo Confirmed

Ghost of Yōtei is set to launch for PlayStation 5 on October 2nd. Fans eagerly awaiting critical opinions can look forward to the first reviews for the action-adventure title, which are scheduled to be released on September 25th.

This new information, coupled with the trailer, paints a clearer picture of Sucker Punch's vision for Ghost of Yōtei. Players can anticipate not just a continuation of Jin Sakai's journey, but an experience enhanced by next-gen features and a commitment to delivering a refined, diverse, and high-quality adventure.
