In an exciting new development for on-the-go entertainment, Microsoft and LG have announced a collaboration to bring Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) directly into internet-connected cars. This partnership means that passengers will soon be able to access a vast library of games right from their vehicle's built-in infotainment system, transforming car journeys into dynamic gaming sessions.

How In-Car Gaming Will Work

The integration will see Xbox Cloud Gaming supported on LG's webOS Automotive Content Platform (ACP). For those with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, hundreds of titles will be instantly available. This includes popular games like Forza Horizon 5 and Gears of War: Reloaded, alongside eagerly anticipated future releases such as The Outer Worlds 2. Beyond the Game Pass library, players will also be able to launch some of their already purchased games, with examples given including Bugsnax, Don’t Starve, and Mafia: The Old Country.

Getting started is straightforward. Users will simply need to connect a Bluetooth gamepad, open the Xbox application on their car's onboard system, and log into their Xbox account. Once authenticated, the gaming can begin immediately.

Microsoft emphasizes that the core goal of this initiative is to provide gamers with the flexibility to enjoy their favorite titles wherever they are. This feature will be particularly convenient during common travel scenarios, such as waiting at electric vehicle charging stations or during long road trips where passengers might need entertainment. This collaboration with LG significantly broadens the reach of Xbox Cloud Gaming. The service, which was already accessible on PCs, smartphones, televisions, and tablets, now adds automotive systems to its growing list of supported devices.
