Castle of Heart: Retold Set to Launch October 3rd

Polish developer 7Levels has announced that Castle of Heart: Retold, an enhanced and expanded version of their action-adventure game, will be released on October 3rd. The game will be available on PC and consoles for $14.99 or €14.99.

In Castle of Heart: Retold, players take on the role of Svarn, a Slavic warrior battling against a sorcerer, a servant of Chernobog. Svarn's mission is to rescue a priestess of the goddess Mokosh and free the land from tyranny, all while struggling with a curse that slowly turns his body to stone. If Svarn fails to maintain a kill streak, his body will crumble, leading to the loss of limbs and the inability to use certain weapons.

What's New in the Retold Version?

The developers describe the Retold version as the "definitive" edition, highlighting a significant number of improvements. Players can look forward to:

  • New animations, updated character models, and improved lighting, along with more detailed environments and remixed music.
  • A redesigned user interface and controls, offering more responsive gameplay and balanced combat.
  • Completely rewritten dialogues and overhauled cutscenes.
  • Alternative endings, which can be unlocked by collecting all of Mokosh's crystals throughout the game.

Throughout the adventure, players will traverse four distinct regions inspired by Slavic mythology. They will face a variety of creatures, including imps, ghasts, and water spirits, while mastering dozens of weapons ranging from torches and axes to crossbows and spears. Expect challenging boss battles as well.

Availability and What This Means for Players

Players will be able to challenge the diverse and colorful creatures of Castle of Heart: Retold on PC (via Steam and GOG), Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch starting October 3rd. This updated version promises a more polished and engaging experience for both new players and those familiar with the original, offering a deeper dive into its unique Slavic-inspired world with improved visuals, gameplay, and storytelling.
