Ubisoft Announces The Division 2: Survivors, a New Survival Extraction Experience for 2026

Ubisoft Reveals The Division 2: Survivors, Launching in 2026

Ubisoft has officially announced The Division 2: Survivors, a new expansion that will introduce a "survival extraction" experience to the established world of Tom Clancy's The Division 2. Players can look forward to diving into this new content in 2026.

The upcoming addition aims to build upon the popular multiplayer shooter's foundation, offering a fresh take on its post-pandemic setting. Julian Gerighty, Executive Producer for The Division franchise, emphasized the development team's commitment to transparency and community involvement for Survivors.

"The Division 2: Survivors is as much your project as it is ours, and we are striving for full transparency at all stages of development. We emphasize open communication and community involvement in creating a new experience, and we will closely involve you in the process as development progresses," Gerighty stated.

This new venture signifies Ubisoft's continued long-term support for The Division 2, which originally launched in 2019 and has since received numerous updates and major expansions. The publisher has already outlined a comprehensive roadmap for the future of the entire Division franchise.

Development for The Division 2: Survivors is being handled by Red Storm Entertainment. The project is under the direction of Magnus Jansén, and as revealed, Julian Gerighty, who was previously the creative director for the highly anticipated Star Wars Outlaws, has returned to oversee the entire The Division franchise. Development is currently in its early stages, reflecting the 2026 release window.

This announcement follows Ubisoft's decision last year to cancel The Division Heartland, a free-to-play multiplayer shooter that was set to take place in a fictional Midwest American town after the Dollar Flu pandemic. Frédéric Duguet, the CFO of Ubisoft, described the cancellation as a "difficult but necessary" decision.

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is currently available globally on PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), Xbox, and PlayStation platforms. The addition of Survivors in 2026 will provide dedicated fans and new players alike with another significant chapter in the ongoing fight to restore order.
