After seven years of colonizing the Red Planet, Paradox Interactive and Haemimont Games are preparing for a fresh start. They have officially announced Surviving Mars: Relaunched, a comprehensive and expanded edition of the popular city-building simulation centered on Mars colonization. This revamped version is set to launch on PC and consoles, though a specific release date has not yet been revealed.

This new Relaunched edition is designed to be the ultimate way to experience Mars colonization. Developers have included all the content from the original game, encompassing every expansion, cosmetic pack, and even the in-game radio stations. Beyond gathering existing content, the team has also enhanced the game with improved visuals and exciting new features.

What's New in Surviving Mars: Relaunched?

One of the most significant additions is the “Martian Assembly.” This new system allows players to pass laws, manage the needs of their colonists, and even declare independence from Earth. Players will still face the classic challenges of colonizing a desolate planet, needing to maintain a stable supply of oxygen, water, and power, oversee complex infrastructure, and compete with various “sponsors” for resources and influence. To aid in transport, the game introduces “Mars Express” trains for moving people and resources, while automated drones will handle routine management tasks, freeing players to focus on the bigger picture.

Science and research remain vital, unlocking access to new technologies and buildings. The game promises unique playthroughs each time thanks to procedurally generated maps and unexpected story events. Fans of terraforming will be pleased to know that features from the “Green Planet” expansion are integrated, allowing colonists to gradually transform Mars into a living ecosystem. And for those who enjoy a touch of companionship, the “Project Laika” elements are included, letting players introduce pets to their Martian colonies.

Pricing and Availability

Surviving Mars: Relaunched will be priced at $39.99. Owners of the original 2018 strategy game will receive a $20 discount on the new edition. It's important to note that once Surviving Mars: Relaunched is released, the original Surviving Mars and its individual expansions will be removed from digital storefronts.

Players will be able to take on the role of a Martian administrator on PC (via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store), Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. The game will also include Russian text localization. This new release offers both veteran players and newcomers a definitive and expanded way to experience the challenges and triumphs of building a thriving civilization on the Red Planet.
