First S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 DLC Underway

Fans eagerly awaiting more content for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl have reason to be excited. Developers at GSC Game World recently confirmed that the first expansion for the highly anticipated title is now in active development. This news came during an interview with the FRVR portal, held just before gamescom 2025.

GSC Game World had previously announced plans to release at least two substantial DLCs for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, in addition to a dedicated multiplayer mode. Speaking with the FRVR journalist, the developers reiterated these intentions, highlighting that the expansions will offer a “fresh look at the Zone.” While they remained tight-lipped on specific details, they assured players of the scope of these upcoming additions.

“We assure you, in the future players will receive two quite substantial in size additions. The first DLC is currently in an active phase of development. We can't wait to tell you more, but you'll have to wait a little longer.”

A release date for the first DLC has not yet been announced. Currently, the team is also dedicating significant resources to improving the base game experience. This includes preparing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 for a major engine upgrade to Unreal Engine 5.5.4. Furthermore, the PlayStation 5 version of the shooter is slated for release on November 20th.

This confirmation means that while the base game is still being refined and prepared for its multi-platform launch, GSC Game World is already laying the groundwork for future content. Players can look forward to more adventures in the treacherous Chornobyl Exclusion Zone, with these substantial DLCs promising to expand the game's lore and gameplay, offering new challenges and perspectives once they arrive.
