Finish Line Games, the studio behind the adventure game Skully, is expanding the reach of their retro-futuristic action RPG, Robots at Midnight. The game is officially heading to PlayStation 5 on August 28, bringing its unique blend of dynamic combat and a colorful world to a new audience.
In Robots at Midnight, players take on the role of Zoe, a determined protagonist searching for her father on the deserted planet Iob. Once a place of luxury and grandeur, Iob is now overrun by out-of-control robots, making Zoe's quest a perilous journey through a world teetering on the edge.
To survive the harsh environment and achieve her mission, Zoe must master the cosmic gauntlet – a powerful tool originally designed for space exploration, but repurposed for intense combat. With this versatile weapon, Zoe can unleash devastating strikes, manipulate electromagnetic fields, fire enhanced laser beams, and utilize jet propulsion for quick maneuvers. As she progresses, Zoe will unlock more abilities, learning to repel enemies, glide through the air, and smash robots using the game's dynamic impulse-based combat system.
Daniel Posner, co-founder of Finish Line Games, shared insights into the team's vision for the game: “We really like soulslikes, but we wanted to create engaging, action-packed gameplay without the gloomy atmosphere — in a brighter and more colorful world. We can't wait for PlayStation players to experience it!” This sentiment highlights the game's ambition to offer challenging, deep combat in a more visually vibrant and distinct setting than typical soulslike titles.
Robots at Midnight will make its debut on PlayStation 5 on August 28. The game originally launched on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store) and Xbox Series in June 2025. Players can look forward to text localization in Russian, among other languages, as they dive into Zoe's adventure.
