Saber Interactive Reveals More on Jurassic Park: Survival
Fans eager for news on Jurassic Park: Survival finally have something to sink their teeth into. Developer Saber Interactive, in collaboration with Universal, has released a new video offering a deeper look into the game's development and what players can expect from this upcoming first-person adventure.
A Direct Sequel to the Classic Film
Jurassic Park: Survival is set to be a single-player, story-driven action game played from a first-person perspective. The game plunges players onto Isla Nublar the very next day after the thrilling events of the 1993 Jurassic Park film. You'll step into the shoes of Dr. Maya Joshi, an InGen scientist who, unfortunately, couldn't evacuate the island. Her mission: survive the island's newfound dangers alone. Gameplay will feature a compelling mix of intense action sequences and strategic stealth as you navigate a world overrun by dinosaurs.
Meticulous Recreation and Authentic Dinosaurs
Saber Interactive is taking great care to ensure an authentic experience. The development team isn't just drawing inspiration from the film itself; they're diving deep into the Jurassic Park archives, utilizing filmmakers' sketches and other original materials. This meticulous approach aims to accurately place every object and design every location, both across the island and within its infamous facilities. Players will get to revisit iconic areas from the movie while also exploring entirely new ones.
The video showcased glimpses of the game's "pre-alpha" state alongside preliminary rendered footage, giving a taste of the visual fidelity. A significant focus is also being placed on the dinosaurs themselves. Their appearance, movements, and behavior are being faithfully recreated to mirror their cinematic counterparts. Leah Slater, Senior Director at Universal Products and Experiences, emphasized this commitment:
"It's really important that the dinosaurs are done flawlessly. They are the main stars of this franchise. The textures, the movements, their weight and their stomp across the ground – everything needs to give you the feeling of those very dinosaurs that you know and love from the very first film."
Platforms and Release
Jurassic Park: Survival is currently in development for PC (via Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. While the game was initially revealed at The Game Awards in December 2023, a concrete release date has not yet been announced. Players worldwide can look forward to an immersive single-player adventure that aims to expand on the beloved universe of Jurassic Park, offering a new perspective on survival within its iconic, dangerous world.
