Metal Gear Solid Delta's Fox Hunt Mode Will Not Feature Cross-Play
Konami has officially confirmed that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater's upcoming multiplayer mode, 'Fox Hunt,' will not support cross-platform play. This means players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam) will only be able to connect with others on the same platform.
The announcement came directly from Konami, clarifying an important detail for fans looking forward to the online component of the highly anticipated remake. The 'Fox Hunt' mode is set to be added to the game this fall, following its main launch.
Developers have described 'Fox Hunt' as an original mode that uniquely blends intense firefights with strategic stealth gameplay. Battles will take place on maps familiar to players from the main story campaign. The creation of this mode has seen input from Yu Sahara, a notable figure who previously worked on titles such as Metal Gear Solid 4, Peace Walker, Ground Zeroes, and The Phantom Pain, lending credibility to its design.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is scheduled for release on August 28th, available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game will also include Russian subtitles for a wider audience.
For those eager to know more before release, initial reviews for the remake are set to be published on August 22nd at 10:00 AM Moscow time. The absence of cross-play for 'Fox Hunt' means that the multiplayer community will be segmented by platform, potentially impacting matchmaking and player pool size. Players will need to consider this when deciding where to purchase the game if multiplayer is a significant factor for them.
