LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Revealed
Warner Bros. Games and TT Games have officially announced LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, a brand-new open-world adventure game set within the beloved DC universe. The game is slated for release in 2026.
This new title promises to take players on the complete journey of Bruce Wayne, from his rigorous training with the League of Shadows to his transformation into the legendary hero Gotham knows. Along the way, players will encounter a roster of iconic allies, including Jim Gordon, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Catwoman, and Talia al Ghul. They will also face off against a vast gallery of formidable villains like the Joker, Penguin, Poison Ivy, Bane, Ra’s al Ghul, and many more.
Enhanced Combat and Open-World Gotham
One of the key innovations highlighted for Legacy of the Dark Knight is an overhauled combat system designed to truly capture the Dark Knight’s fighting style. Expect dynamic combo attacks, precise counter-moves, and spectacular finishing moves that make every encounter thrilling. Batman will wield his signature gadgets, such as Batarangs and the Batclaw, while his allies will feature their unique abilities, like Catwoman’s whip or Jim Gordon’s foam sprayer. For those seeking a greater challenge, the game will include harder modes like Caped Crusader and Dark Knight.
Gotham City itself will serve as a sprawling, LEGO-style open world. Players can navigate the cityscape using Batman’s grapple hook, glider, or various models of Batmobiles and Batcycles. The city’s alleyways and rooftops will be teeming with crimes to stop, puzzles to solve, and collectibles to discover. The iconic Batcave will also serve as a central hub where players can store trophies, collect different suits, and display their impressive collection of vehicles.
A New Chapter for LEGO Games
Jonathan Smith, Strategic Director and Head of Development at TT Games, expressed the team's excitement for the project. “We at TT Games are incredibly proud to introduce LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight – a brand-new game that is a true celebration of all things Batman,” he stated. “We will take players through Bruce Wayne’s epic journey to becoming Gotham’s legendary hero, adding our signature LEGO touch to iconic moments in Batman’s history. Our new crime-fighting combat system is incredibly fun and takes LEGO gameplay to a whole new level.”
The developers aim for Legacy of the Dark Knight to be more than just a “love letter” to Batman’s mythology; it’s designed to elevate the LEGO game series, blending superhero drama with the brand’s characteristic humor and family-friendly appeal. Fans can look forward to playing LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight on PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch when it launches in 2026. Please note that the game will not include Russian language support.
