Genshin Impact Phasing Out PS4 Support

Time marches on, and games are no exception. HoYoverse has announced that its popular action RPG, Genshin Impact, will soon cease receiving updates and be delisted from the PlayStation Store for PS4. This news comes alongside plans to adjust the minimum and recommended system requirements for PC and mobile devices.

According to the developers, they are discontinuing PS4 support due to the console's limited performance capabilities and the maximum available application size. The process of delisting Genshin Impact from the PS Store for PS4 will occur in three stages:
  • September 10, 2025, 01:00 AM Moscow time: The PS4 version will be removed from the PlayStation Store. Players who already own the game on PS4 will still be able to play it.
  • February 25, 2026: All additional content and items for Genshin Impact on PS4 will be removed from the PlayStation Store and the in-game shop. After this date, it will no longer be possible to add funds for PS4. Purchased but unactivated in-game items can still be claimed as usual.
  • April 8, 2026: Genshin Impact on PS4 will stop receiving updates. At that point, players will no longer be able to access the game on the console. Items purchased via the PS Store but not yet claimed in-game can be redeemed by logging into the game on a PlayStation 5.

After support for Genshin Impact ends on PlayStation 4, players can seamlessly continue their journey on any of the other available platforms through cross-progression. It's worth noting that HoYoverse did not port its subsequent titles, Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero, to PlayStation 4, opting instead for PlayStation 5 releases.

Updated PC and Mobile System Requirements

Regarding the updated system requirements for PC and mobile, HoYoverse states this change is due to “preparations for future versions and game performance optimization.” The team warns that while devices not meeting the minimum requirements might still run the game, players could experience performance issues such as frame rate drops, instability, or crashes.
