Serial World Blends JRPG Adventure with Strategic Deckbuilding
Game development studio Serial Project and publisher Kakehashi Games have officially announced Serial World, a captivating new title that promises to blend the charm of a JRPG with the strategic depth of a deckbuilder. This unique adventure is slated for release in 2026 on PC.
Unraveling the Mysteries of Briktown
The story of Serial World centers on a young boy named Milo, whose life takes an extraordinary turn when he discovers a mysterious door on the outskirts of his hometown, Briktown. This portal transports him to a strange realm filled with sprawling, seemingly endless dungeons, inhabited by fantastic creatures and eccentric adversaries.
As described on its Steam page, players will embark on a journey to uncover the truth:
“Something strange is happening in Briktown, and Milo must figure it out! Leave your home and explore dungeons with the help of Anima – unusual creatures with unique personalities, abilities, and growth. Discover the truth!”
Milo finds himself trapped in a peculiar cycle, waking up back in his own bed each time he emerges from the dungeon. With every new day, Briktown subtly shifts, bringing Milo closer to unraveling the profound mystery that binds his world.
Dynamic Combat with Mystical Anima Allies
Combat in Serial World is turn-based and revolves around the mystical companions known as Anima. At the outset, players will have access to eight distinct Anima, each boasting a unique combat style. These styles range from powerful offensive attacks and robust defensive stances to intricate combinations that inflict various status effects on enemies. As Anima participate in battles, they gain new skills, further enhancing their capabilities. A key strategic element is the accumulation of talisman energy, which allows Anima to evolve directly during a battle, dynamically altering the flow of combat.
Beyond the Dungeons: Life in Briktown
While dungeon exploration and combat are central, Serial World also encourages players to delve into the everyday life of Briktown. Players can explore the town, interact with its quirky residents, find useful items, and encounter a diverse cast of characters. These encounters range from friendly neighbors and helpful merchants to more whimsical figures like jumping dragons and even “donut children,” adding a layer of charm and discovery outside of the perilous dungeons.
Serial World is confirmed for PC via Steam and will feature text localization for multiple languages, including Russian, ensuring a broad international reach. With its intriguing blend of a charming JRPG narrative and engaging deckbuilding mechanics, Serial World is poised to offer a fresh and memorable experience for players when it launches in 2026, inviting them to uncover its secrets and explore its evolving world.
