Witchfire's Webgrave Update Expands the World
Independent studio The Astronauts continues to actively develop the Early Access version of their magical action shooter, Witchfire. The team recently launched a significant global update titled 'Webgrave,' which brings a host of improvements and fresh content to the game.
This substantial update introduces several key new features for players to dive into:
- A Brand-New, Multi-Level Region: Players can now explore Welmorn, a sprawling area that was once an ordinary city before its inhabitants were twisted by the Witch's sorcery. This region is touted as the largest and most expansive in the game's history so far.
- Comprehensive Tutorial: A full tutorial has been implemented, set on a new dedicated map that players will encounter before the first chapter. This should greatly help new players get up to speed.
- Global System Reworks: The game's core stats and the workshop system have undergone significant overhauls, promising a more refined and engaging experience.
- New Progression System: Hero development now features a new system utilizing Rosary beads, offering fresh ways to customize and strengthen your character.
- Increased Difficulty: For the most seasoned Witchfire players, a challenging new difficulty level, Gnosis VI, has been added to truly test their skills.
- Three New Weapons: The arsenal expands with three unique firearms:
- Oracle: A sniper rifle with the unique ability to ignore walls, allowing for unexpected tactical approaches.
- Nemesis: A classic lever-action rifle, adding a different feel to combat.
- Koschei: A special shotgun that requires players to complete a dedicated quest to unlock, adding a rewarding challenge.
Witchfire is currently available in Early Access on both Steam and the Epic Games Store. The game has been met with positive reception on Steam, boasting a 'Very Positive' rating with 92% approval based on over 8,500 reviews. The Astronauts plan for the full release of Witchfire to occur early next year, with a couple more updates slated to arrive before then. This 'Webgrave' update is a clear signal of the studio's commitment to delivering a polished and content-rich experience, offering players new challenges, deeper mechanics, and exciting new ways to fight the Witch's corrupted forces as development progresses towards its full launch.
