Explore the Dark History of the Wolf School in The Witcher: Legacy
CD Projekt RED, in partnership with Go On Board, has announced a new board game set in the beloved Witcher universe titled The Witcher: Legacy. The project has already launched its crowdfunding campaign on the Gamefound platform, inviting fans to delve deeper into the lore of monster slayers.
This new title serves as a direct sequel to the highly successful The Witcher: Old World, which was released in 2023. That game famously raised millions of dollars, reportedly becoming one of the most successful crowdfunding projects in board game history, setting a high bar for its successor.
Unraveling a Conspiracy in Kaedwen
The Witcher: Legacy is designed for 1-4 players, offering a rich narrative experience. The adventure takes place in Kaedwen, the ancestral home of the School of the Wolf. Players will step into the boots of witchers tasked with investigating a complex conspiracy that ultimately led to the tragic downfall of their esteemed order. The game promises a branching storyline, multiple scenarios to explore, and, of course, plenty of thrilling battles against dangerous monsters.
Łukasz Woźniak, co-founder of Go On Board, shared insights into the development, stating, “We have been working on The Witcher: Legacy for over three years. During this time, we listened to player feedback to make the game as rich as possible.”
Jan Rosner, Vice President of Business Development at CD Projekt RED, also expressed enthusiasm for the project’s potential. “For us, this is a fantastic opportunity to expand the beloved universe and delve deeper into events that have not yet been fully explored in games and books,” Rosner commented.
What This Means for Witcher Fans
For fans of the Witcher saga, The Witcher: Legacy offers a unique chance to experience a pivotal moment in the history of the witcher orders from a fresh perspective. Building on the established success and detailed world of The Witcher: Old World, this new entry promises to deliver a deep, lore-rich narrative experience that expands upon the events that shaped the world Geralt of Rivia eventually inherited. As a direct continuation, it’s an exciting prospect for those who enjoyed the previous tabletop adventure and wish to uncover more of the universe's untold stories.
