Lollipop Chainsaw Franchise Expands with New Game and Anime

Fans of the cult classic action game Lollipop Chainsaw have cause to celebrate. Following hints last week about franchise expansion, developer Dragami Games has now officially announced plans for a new game and an anime adaptation. These exciting new projects are a collaboration with Taiwanese company Nada Holdings.

The developers behind the upcoming titles are promising to keep everything that made the original game beloved, while also building upon its success. Players can expect a fun action experience filled with dark humor, with a clear focus on maintaining the game's distinctive tone.

Nada Holdings, in partnership with Dragami Games, stated: "Nada Holdings, in collaboration with Dragami Games, is delighted to announce the launch of two major projects for the Lollipop Chainsaw series: a brand-new game and an anime adaptation."

Lollipop Chainsaw, originally released in 2012, is known for its unique blend of zombie action, dark humor, and over-the-top violence. The series has sold over 1.5 million units worldwide and has maintained a dedicated fan base for years. A remastered version, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, was released in 2024 to positive reviews, further cementing its popularity.

The new Lollipop Chainsaw game is already in development through the close cooperation between Nada Holdings and Dragami Games. The team is dedicated to preserving and enhancing the appeal of the original. Crucially, key developers from the previous installment are part of the new project, and fan feedback is being taken into account during its creation.

Just like the original, the new game aims to recreate a world rich in black humor. The development prioritizes faithfulness to the distinctive tone and spirit of the original work, without imposing excessive creative restrictions in the name of modern inclusivity.

For those eager to follow the progress, an official X (formerly Twitter) account has been launched. This account will serve as the primary source for production updates moving forward.

It's worth noting that Grasshopper Manufacture, the studio behind the original Lollipop Chainsaw, is currently busy with their own new action title, Romeo is a Dead Man. Directed by Goichi Suda himself, this game is set to release in 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. However, the future of the Lollipop Chainsaw franchise remains bright under the new partnership, promising more of the unique, zany fun that fans adore.
