Hell is Us Unveils Deep Dive into Hand-Crafted Dungeons
Rogue Factor, the studio behind the upcoming dark adventure action game Hell is Us, continues to build excitement with a new gameplay reveal. This latest video focuses on the game's distinct approach to dungeon exploration, a core part of its design.
The developers state, "If you miss the times when dungeons were memorable, this game is for you." As previously noted, a key element of Hell is Us's gameplay is world exploration without direct markers. The creators aim to give players complete freedom, actively encouraging them to study the setting by solving puzzles and piecing together a full picture from many scattered clues.
It has been confirmed that all dungeons are entirely hand-crafted, with every detail, including enemy placement, meticulously designed. These dungeons follow the same philosophy as the rest of the game. Jonathan Jacques-Belletête, Creative Director and Art Director for Hell is Us, explained, "We want players to rediscover the pleasure of independent exploration without annoying hints. In the deep and mysterious depths of each dungeon, players must carefully examine their surroundings to orient themselves and understand how to overcome the many obstacles they face. Each dungeon has its own unique twist and memorable moments, and after completing them, you will experience a true sense of satisfaction."
This means players can expect a challenging and rewarding experience, where keen observation and critical thinking will be essential for navigating the world. The focus on thoughtful exploration and discovery aims to deliver a sense of accomplishment for those who enjoy uncovering secrets on their own. Hell is Us is set to launch on September 4th for PC (via Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. Players who purchase the Deluxe Edition will get a three-day early access.
