Genghis Khan Joins the Ranks in Civilization VII

Firaxis Games continues to expand the world of Sid Meier’s Civilization VII, recently rolling out a brand-new leader: the legendary Mongol conqueror, Genghis Khan. Players can acquire this powerful new leader either as a standalone purchase or as part of the “Right to Rule” collection.

Genghis Khan brings a unique set of attributes to the battlefield, designed to reflect his historical prowess and expandability:

  • Characteristics: Military, Expansionism.
  • Unique Ability – Tengri’s Chosen:
    – Cavalry combat strength increases within the army's command radius.
    – Commanders maintain full movement even when units have zero readiness.
    – Once per era, commanders can use the “Turn Independents” action to take control of military units from neighboring independent forces.
  • Agenda – Tumen: Improves relations moderately with leaders who have the fewest cavalry units, while slightly worsening relations with those who possess the most cavalry.

Major July Update (Version 1.2.3) Enhances Gameplay

Alongside the new leader, developers have also launched a substantial global update, version 1.2.3, bringing a host of improvements and new features to Civilization VII:

  • Improved and Smoother Era Transitions: Players now have a “Continuity” option, which offers a more seamless experience.
    – Units remain in their previous era’s location but are upgraded to their new era version.
    – Units located at other players’ borders will be expelled but stay nearby.
    – When transitioning from the Ancient to the Exploration era, ships and siege units are now preserved. For all other era transitions, settlers, migrants, scouts, and traders are also maintained.
  • Enhanced Relationship Control: Instead of abrupt shifts after an era change, relationships will now gradually decline towards zero over the course of the game. This provides players with opportunities to prevent a complete breakdown in diplomatic ties.
  • New “Safe Zone”: A new safe zone becomes active at the end of an era and lasts for up to 20 turns. This allows players a window to complete any crucial unfinished business before the next era fully begins. This feature can be optionally disabled.
  • Auto-Explore Returns: The popular automatic exploration function has been reinstated.
  • New Free Commander: Players will also receive a new free commander, Trung Nhi, sister of the renowned Trung Trac.
  • General Improvements: The update also includes various mechanic and interface enhancements, rebalancing adjustments, and bug fixes to improve overall game stability and player experience.

These additions and improvements aim to offer players even greater strategic depth and a more polished gameplay experience. Sid Meier’s Civilization VII is available on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch platforms, featuring full Russian localization.
