Kingmakers Action-Strategy Game Delayed Beyond October Release

Fans eagerly awaiting Redemption Road's ambitious action-strategy title, Kingmakers, will have to wait a little longer. The studio has announced that the game will not be releasing on its previously planned date of October 8th, with no new launch window provided at this time.

Less than a week before its anticipated debut, Redemption Road admitted that it simply couldn't meet the original deadline. The developers explained that the delay stems from the massive scale of Kingmakers. The team is unwilling to cut any planned features to rush the game out the door, emphasizing their commitment to delivering the full vision.

Redemption Road highlighted their intent to push the boundaries of Unreal Engine 4. Their goal is to ensure a smooth 60 frames per second on mid-range PCs without relying on frame generation. The studio noted that their team is comprised of 80% engineers, dedicated to overcoming technological challenges to achieve their ambitious goals.

The developers shared insights into the game's grand scope, detailing a world where:

  • Tens of thousands of warriors clash on the battlefield, each powered by AI comparable to AAA shooters.
  • Battles unfold even outside the player's direct line of sight.
  • Locations feature six-story castles, where players can enter every room and destroy any wall, floor, or ceiling.
  • When a vehicle crashes into a tree, the player is ejected through the windshield, and the tree breaks from its stump, rolling over any unfortunate soldiers in its path.
  • Each mission takes place on a vast map that every player on the server is free to explore, either with their multi-thousand-strong army or independently.

On top of this extensive technological feast, Kingmakers promises seamless four-player cooperative gameplay. The game is set to launch into Early Access on both Steam and the Epic Games Store, and will include Russian subtitles.

While the delay is undoubtedly disappointing for those looking forward to jumping into Kingmakers, Redemption Road's commitment to avoiding feature cuts and optimizing performance suggests they are aiming to deliver a truly robust and polished experience. Players will need to keep an eye out for a new release date announcement in the coming months.
