Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition Hits Major Sales Milestone
FireFly Studios, the developer behind the beloved real-time strategy series, has announced a significant achievement for Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition. The remastered classic has sold over 250,000 copies globally in approximately three weeks since its launch. This impressive figure includes an initial surge of 100,000 units sold within just the first two days, showcasing strong fan anticipation and continued love for the iconic castle-building strategy game.
Future Content on the Horizon
Alongside the sales announcement, FireFly Studios shared their plans for post-launch content, promising more reasons for players to return to the desert battlefields. The development team is currently working on two major free updates, scheduled for release in the coming months:
- Autumn Update: This patch will introduce a new five-mission economic campaign, offering players a different strategic challenge beyond traditional combat. It will also add a new AI Lord to face and a fresh set of maps to expand skirmish options.
- Winter Update: Looking further ahead, the winter patch will bring even more maps and a robust nine-mission cooperative trail, allowing players to team up with friends to conquer challenges. Additionally, this update will include a comprehensive suite of editing tools, empowering players to create their own custom commanders, castles, and trails, fostering community creativity.
These free updates will be complemented by paid DLC packs. Each planned DLC is expected to introduce a pair of new AI-controlled lords and additional trails, providing further content for those who have exhausted the four 'Sands of Time' trails included in the base game. FireFly Studios has stated that more precise release dates for both the free updates and the paid DLCs will be announced separately.
