Acclaimed Horror Game CAPTURED Heads to Consoles
Fans of psychological horror have reason to rejoice as Puck Games, in partnership with publisher Perp Games, announces the console release dates for their chilling title, CAPTURED. The game, which has already garnered significant praise on PC, will soon bring its unique brand of terror to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The PlayStation 5 version of CAPTURED is set to launch on September 12, with the Xbox Series X|S release following shortly after on October 7. PC players have been able to experience the nightmare since October 15, 2024, with the game currently available on Steam.
Trapped in a Shifting Reality
CAPTURED thrusts players into a deeply unsettling experience, where they find themselves confined within the seemingly endless corridors of their own home. What begins as familiar quickly twists into a sinister and alien environment, as rooms procedurally generate and shift, creating a constant sense of unease. The core challenge lies in observing the subtle, and not-so-subtle, differences that appear, using a camera to document unusual phenomena, all while evading malevolent entities that lurk in the shadows.
As the game's Steam description aptly puts it, players must "Find the differences, fix unusual phenomena, and stay away from sinister creatures." The objective is to break a repeating cycle: every attempt to escape the house simply leads back to the same starting corridor. To truly escape, players must correctly identify and record 13 distinct anomalies.
Survival Against the Unseen
The tension in CAPTURED is amplified by a crucial mechanic: any errors or missed identifications will clear the camera's memory, forcing players to be meticulously observant of their surroundings. This adds a layer of strategic thinking, as every detail matters.
The house is not empty; diverse monsters with unique behaviors actively hunt players. While silence can provide temporary safety, lingering too long in one spot will inevitably attract danger. Players must master the strategic use of their limited tools—a flashlight to pierce the gloom, the camera to document the inexplicable, and doors to outwit their pursuers—to survive the ordeal.
Critical Acclaim and What It Means for Console Players
CAPTURED has already made a strong impression within the PC gaming community, boasting an impressive 97% positive user rating on Steam at the time of this announcement. This high praise suggests a well-crafted horror experience that resonates deeply with players.
The console launch means a broader audience can now delve into the atmospheric and psychological depths of CAPTURED. Players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S can look forward to a critically well-received horror game that promises to keep them on the edge of their seats, meticulously searching for clues, and desperately trying to escape a home that has become their worst nightmare.
