Nintendo's Latest Indie World Showcase Reveals New Titles and Demos
Nintendo recently held its promised Indie World Showcase, a 15-minute presentation dedicated to highlighting a range of upcoming games from independent developers. The event provided exciting updates, new announcements, and even immediate releases for fans of indie titles.

- Mina the Hollower
From Yacht Club Games, the creators of the beloved Shovel Knight, came a new trailer for their 8-bit adventure, Mina the Hollower. The developers announced that a demo for the game is now available for both Nintendo Switch consoles. Players will guide Mina, a courageous mouse, on a journey to a dark island to uncover its mysteries and break a curse. The game promises diverse locations, a rich arsenal of weapons and abilities, and classic adventure elements. - Well Dweller
Independent developer Kyle Thompson (known for Crypt Custodian and Islets) has once again teamed up with Top Hat Studio to announce his new Metroidvania project, Well Dweller. This dark fairy tale follows Blik, a brave well-dweller and the only hero capable of defeating a horrifying queen. Armed with a single match, Blik aims to burn away evil and save his family. The gameplay will feature classic Metroidvania mechanics, including exploring sprawling locations, unlocking new abilities, and engaging in boss battles. - Neverway
Canadian indie studio Coldblood Inc. revealed the release window for Neverway, a unique blend of horror, life simulation, and action RPG. The game tells the story of Fiona, a young woman who, after losing her job, decides to become a farmer. However, unlike Stardew Valley, Fiona finds herself in a grim nightmare world, cast as an immortal herald of a dead god. Gameplay includes real-time combat, farming, and building social connections with over ten diverse characters, some of whom can be romanced. The game boasts visual artistry from the artist behind Celeste and music from the composer of Hyper Light Drifter. Neverway is slated for a 2026 release on PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch.

Okomotive, the studio behind the FAR series, announced the exact release date for Herdling, a new adventure guiding players through picturesque mountain trails. The game stars a young shepherd leading their flock through dangers to a new home. Herdling will launch on August 21, 2025, for PC (Steam, Epic Game Store), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch.
- Is This Seat Taken?
Poti Poti Studio announced the upcoming release of their logical puzzle game, Is This Seat Taken? Players will solve charming puzzles by seating various figures based on their personal preferences. The game launched immediately on August 7, 2025, for PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android.
- Little Kitty, Big City
Last year, Double Dagger Studio delighted players with the charming cat adventure, Little Kitty, Big City. Following its PlayStation release, the developers revealed a new free content update called The Picture Purrfect patch. This update adds protagonist customization, new locations, friends, and activities, and is set to arrive this year. Little Kitty, Big City is currently available on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch.
- Content Warning
The co-op horror game Content Warning is expanding to new platforms. Similar to Lethal Company, players team up with friends to explore monster-infested dungeons and escape alive. The main goal is to film viral videos of creatures to upload online. Content Warning is coming to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026.
- BALL x PIT
Solo independent developer Kenny Sun, with publisher Devolver Digital, revealed the exact release date for his new roguelike, BALL x PIT. This highly replayable game offers dozens, even hundreds, of hours of gameplay as players descend into a massive crater to find treasures needed to rebuild a fallen city. The main weapons are balls with diverse effects that can be combined, and different heroes offer unique gameplay mechanics. BALL x PIT is set to release on October 15, 2025, for PC (Steam), Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2, with a demo still available on Steam.
- Ultimate Sheep Raccoon
The creators of the casual co-op racing game Ultimate Sheep Raccoon announced a new version for Nintendo consoles. - Undusted: Letters from the Past

Advise customers, expand their literary horizons, and befriend the quirky characters of Bookstonbury. - Caves of Qud
After 10 years on PC, the classic roguelike Caves of Qud is finally coming to Nintendo consoles. Combining elements of fantasy and science fiction, Caves of Qud offers modernized mechanics inspired by the genre's earliest titles. The Switch version of Caves of Qud is set to arrive in Q4 2025.
- Strange Antiquities
Once again, players can step behind a counter, this time managing an occult shop in Strange Antiquities from Bad Viking studio. Players must find various curios for a diverse clientele. As a Thaumaturge's apprentice, you'll run the shop, supplying the residents of Undermire with magical relics. This seemingly quiet town on the edge of a large lake is actually on the border between our world and the supernatural, and maintaining reality's delicate balance is your duty. Strange Antiquities is launching on September 17, 2025, for PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch.
- OPUS: Prism Peak
OPUS: Echo of Starsong, one of 2021's most acclaimed games, is set to receive a narrative-driven successor, OPUS: Prism Peak. Developers SIGONO describe it as a blend of What Remains of Edith Finch and Makoto Shinkai's anime films. Players control a photographer who finds herself in a bizarre world and must use her camera to uncover its mysteries to return home. OPUS: Prism Peak will launch this Fall for PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
- UFO 50
The much-talked-about arcade collection UFO 50 made a surprise immediate release on Nintendo Switch during the presentation. UFO 50 is a collection of 50 diverse games spanning various genres in the style of classic 90s titles, from platformers to shoot 'em ups.
In addition to the game announcements, Nintendo also revealed a list of titles that will be playable as demos at their booth during gamescom 2025 in Cologne, from August 20-24. These include major titles like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Hades II, Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, Borderlands 4, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, Donkey Kong Bananza, Mario Kart World, EA Sports FC 26, and Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition.
